What a powerful, joyful (and CO2-free) way to start the day! Until recently, these children were driven to school in the backseat of a car. That is, until gym teacher Sam Balto, thought enough is enough and started a Bike Bus. The concept is simple: cycling together along a fixed route, at a fixed time, welcoming all school kids who want to join in. In the absence of proper infrastructure, a swarm of cyclists is the best answer. Safety in numbers! This Bike Bus in Portland, US, grew into a long procession over time. There are also great examples in Spain and the UK. Tag any other Bike Buses you know of in the comments!

Goodmorning UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme). Thanks for sharing and translating my post, with Sam Balto's great video. These types of initiatives by concerned parents and teachers deserve to be shared as widely as possible worldwide. Our children have the right to cycle or walk safely to school. 👊 https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7212342063470706689/

Amazing! 👏🚲
Good insight! Nous avons rarement vu des élèves se rendre aussi vite et heureux en classe ! 😁
Great! I had the opportunity to do this at my son's school last year, with the support of the gym teacher and permission from the School Principal.
Wonderful! 😍
