Enabling TA leaders to Hire Without Boundaries™️ @ SmartRecruiters 🌄 | Voice-Over Recording Artist 🎙️ | Story-Teller 📚
The cashier at my local Publix rang these up for me—a bit amazed that I was buying the all-black jelly beans. He asked me if I knew what I was buying. “Yes” He asked me if I actually liked them. “Yes. I wait for them all year” He said I had never met anyone who liked the black licorice jelly beans. “Well, now you have” If he'd asked one more question, “Why do you wait for them all year?” he would have learned they were also my grandpa’s favorite and that I bought him a bag every year since the first year I had a job. Now I buy them in his memory, fondly remember enjoying them with him while we sat at the dining room table and watched the spring songbirds nest in the birdhouses he'd built in his backyard. A good lesson in talent acquisition… be genuinely curious. I get it... time is of the essence in so many ways. But in taking the time to learn the things your candidate didn't include in their resume, you can start to determine if the role they've applied for fits their needs... or if they're better suited to something neither of you'd considered before. And, suffice to say, since #YouAreWhoYouHire, you're growing yourself as well as your candidate. Sow your seeds (or jelly beans) and see what grows. #HiringWithoutBoundaries #TalentAcquisition #Recruiting #HiringForSkills #RelationshipBuilding #Networking

Meet Caleb! One of our dedicated Baristas in our Pyrmont Support Centre ☕ We sat down with Caleb to talk about his career journey and why he loves working at Hanes: Q: How did you get your job at Hanes? A: AimBig Employment helped me on my job search. I've had two other barista roles previously before getting my current role at Hanes. Q: How did you find the recruitment and onboarding process? A: Everyone was really helpful, I transitioned into the role very easily and felt very welcome. I was given a tour of the office and got to help figure out a good spot for the coffee machine with the support of my job coach. Overall the process was quick and easy which I really liked. Q: What's your favourite part about your role and working at Hanes? A: Getting to meet and talk to lots of new people all the time. I like making coffees for the friends I've made and get to hear about their day-to-day. I've also enjoyed having the chance to set up systems and routines that work for me in my role, I feel like my own boss a little bit! Q: Do you have any advice for anyone with a disability who's starting a new job? A: Be happy and open to feedback, I always ask if anything I'm doing can be improved so I can do the best job possible. #beingoodcompany #goodpeople #goodimpact #goodcareers

Helping restaurants businesses to realise their potential by collaboratively reviewing operations, finance, talent management, brand and growth strategy.
Do your research before applying for a job! I am currently interviewing candidates for a Senior Head Chef position at a top restaurant in Central London. I have received many CVs that do not meet the required skills, which is to be expected. However, I am surprised by the number of candidates who seem to be a good fit on paper, but then do not know anything about the restaurant when I ask them in the interview. When I ask them what they know about the restaurant, they often say something like, "I applied to a lot of jobs, I was busy, and I didn't have time to look into it." I find this unacceptable. People who apply for top positions with good salaries and where experience and attention to detail are essential should at least take the time to Google the name of the restaurant they are applying for, if not actually visit the venue in advance? What are your thoughts on this?

Any restaurant manager needs to have a strategy when it comes to job hunting and crafting their resume if they want to get it through ATS and into the hands of hiring managers. My Friday articles are dedicated to restaurant manager career development. Besides career tips and advice, I have also started including recent job postings in Florida for the roles of Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, and F&B Director. Additionally, you will find specific keywords you need to consider when applying for those particular openings. I am continuing to explore Substack and have added a link to the article in the comments. #restaurantmanagement #careeradvice #careerdevelopment #hospitalityindustry

You can hire all the best people; however, for those you hire to be successful, YOU owe your staff the most important part of leading a team: You need to FEED them positive management skills daily! I can summarize this in an acronym: I-MEAL INSPIRE MOTIVATE ENCOURAGE ACKNOWLEDGE LISTEN
"Hiring people with fresh ideas is the key to a company's future success." ~ Eraldo Banovac 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬, 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬. Learning and gaining new perspectives does not stop at a certain age... Gaining knowledge in new software, Social media or technology knows no age boundary... Ray Kroc was 55 when he founded McDonald's 🍔 Tim and Nina Zagat were 42 when they started their Restaurant Ratings 🎖 Julia Child was 51 when she hit Celebrity Chef Status 👩🍳 Too many times hiring managers look at a resume and assume someone is too old to handle their job... The one that helps guests for 6-8 hours at a desk, cooking, or even leading a team. We all learn new things daily and not hiring someone due to the perception they are unable to handle a job due to age is preposterous. #changethenarrative

I'm seeking advice from my experienced connections on a career transition challenge. With a background in Restaurant Management, including roles as Manager, General Manager, and Director, I am now transitioning to the Technology industry, focusing on entry to associate level restaurant point of sale technical support. I've faced rejections due to job titles/experience on my resume being to advanced for the positions that I am applying for. I have omitted some of my work history, even though the duties and accomplishments would be relevant just to stay within the recommended two pages. How should I address this issue on my resume effectively? #CareerTransition #ResumeAdvice #ProfessionalDevelopment

Continiously I’m getting call from so many big brand hotels extremely disappointed with recruitment process. Received a call from Executive Chef ,Executive Pastry Chef not convienced .Received call from Executive Pastry Chef , Executive Chef is not convienced .Received call from both of them General Manager is not convienced only to be told they're only considering candidates from big companies and countries. (WHICH IS NOT TRUE because I came from a background worked with biggest companies). Clearly, competence takes a backseat to corporate titles. Shameful and insulting. time to rethink your priorities. Clearly, they didn't bother TO READ my resume. No consideration for experience or qualifications, just a blind preference for candidates from big companies and countries . Sorry, but TALENT DOESN'T COME WITH A CORPORATE LOGO. Unprofessional and disrespectful.
