Small charities have seriously been through the wringer. Struggling to keep their doors open, at a time they're needed more than ever 💔 And, with the loss of the Small Charities Coalition, then The Foundation for Social Improvement, the future of infrastructure support feels uncertain. Last year, 360Giving's report found: • Very few trusts and foundations fund the sector infrastructure organisations, making it a "very fragile ecosystem." • There has been a decline in the overall number of infrastructure organisations. • There were disproportionate numbers of closures for organisations serving minoritised communities (including Black-led and disability organisations). • Due to structural inequity, these infrastructure organisations were also less likely to secure contracts. • Without these infrastructure bodies, there was less support available for Black and minoritised community groups. It feels like a constant uphill battle. But we won't stop fighting for change, and demanding support for small charities. 2024 feels like it's going to be a big year for the small charity sector. Let's stand together. We've got this 💪 P.S. The Focusing Action for Positive Change Grant Program, an initiative of the PEI Alliance for Mental Well-Being, supports Prince Edward Island nonprofit and charitable organizations to deliver projects and initiatives that can improve mental well-being outcomes. Projects must focus on one or more of the evidence-based factors that can develop and strengthen resilience and improve mental well-being: supporting responsive relationships, strengthening core life skills, and reducing sources of stress. PEI-based nonprofit or charitable organizations (including qualified donees) are eligible to apply. Call For private sector Donations....Support Humanitarian.... Private sector donations refer to contributions made by businesses or individuals from the non-governmental, profit-driven part of the economy. These donations can support various causes, including charitable organizations, community development, education, healthcare, and more. Private sector involvement in philanthropy plays a crucial role in addressing social issues and supporting initiatives that may not be fully covered by public funding.

The VCFSE sector is on life support. Over 5,000 charities have been removed from the Charity Commission in the last 12 months, and those that survive are in a constant battle for sustainable funding. Two great examples; Comic Relief 10yr average: £62m Comic Relief 2024: £37m Children in Need 10 yr average: £55m Children in Need 2023: £34m Neither of these take into account inflation or population growth and other factors leading to increased demand. It is absolutely vital that government acknowledges the role that VCFSE groups play in society and acts to support them, as the alternative is simply pushing the ‘problem’ down the road with increased adult social care, pressure on NHS services, lower education attainment and increased inequalities. #vcfse #charity #rednoseday #childreninneed #finance #fundraising #politics

Here we go again! The next sector video is out, and this time it's our charity and not-for-profit sector video. We all know that in Burnley that we rally around one another in times of need. But our borough has some incredible charities and not-for-profit organisations that work tirelessly day after day, 24/7, to ensure our residents receive all the support they might need. In this video, we take a look at a tiny handful of some of those - Burnley FC in the Community, Burnley Together, Pendleside Hospice, Participation Works and The Calico Group. Did you know... * The hospice costs around £5 million a year to operate and over £4 million of this must come from generous donations? * Burnley FC In The Community employs around 90 staff, contributed £3.5 million to the community in the last year alone and isn't just about football? Its veterans and dementia programmes are just two of its initiatives. * The Calico Group is to many, housing, but it has a HUGE remit, not least it's incredible work running the men's, women's and children's refuges? Helping vulnerable people and their families suffering severe hardship - often through no fault of their own - is a core focus of the Randal Charitable Foundation. Our support for charities and good causes in this space has taken many forms, from helping homeless people get back on their feet, to supporting those left penniless and struggling to survive during the Covid-19 pandemic. This past week was Debt Awareness Week, which aimed to increase awareness of problem debt, and the advice and solutions available to help. It provides valuable insight into many social problems – such as mortality rates among children and the deprivation suffered by the elderly – but also highlights the sheer scale of many of these problems, and thus leads to widespread acceptance of the need for state intervention. https://lnkd.in/efKssCc7

Looking for funding to boost your charities reach?

Current figures show the harsh reality that in England alone, more than 100,000 households and 130,000 children are in temporary accommodation – an increase of 10% since last year. Stef & Philips has launched the Stef & Philips Foundation — a charitable initiative dedicated to supporting families and individuals in temporary and emergency accommodation. The Foundation provides personal grants of up to £200 and project grants of up to £2,000, with three funding rounds open for application each year. In its first two years, the Foundation will concentrate its efforts on London, where the number of homeless children surpasses the combined figures for the rest of England. Alexandra Taliadoros, Director of the Stef & Philips Foundation says: "Stef & Philips has witnessed first-hand the devastating impact of homelessness on adults and children. As such, we are immensely proud to launch the Stef & Philips Foundation. This funding will empower individuals and families who find themselves in temporary or emergency accommodation to access the necessities and support that many of us take for granted, ultimately helping them change their situation and fulfil their potential." Chris Philippou, CEO & Founder of Stef & Philips comments: "We see every day the difficulties people that have found themselves without a place to call home face, and how hard it can be to get back on their feet. We see people coming to us with nothing — even the basic necessities — but this Foundation will finance opportunities to enable them to improve their circumstances. "The wider support just isn’t there for this community currently, and with the current homelessness crisis there are not enough community facilities to support families and individuals in temporary and emergency accommodation.
