I had the opportunity to have a conversation at the closing session of the ITF - International Transport Forum Summit with Juan Carlos Munoz, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile, Burkhard Jung, Mayor of Chile, and Lake Sagaris, Professor and Expert in inclusive mobility. It was important to remind that transport #decarbonisation is not just about providing clean vehicles but also making sure mobility leads to #socialinclusion and more #competitiveeconomy. This is what #sustainability is about.

This coming Monday 15th April, our CEO and Founder Jamie Burrows will be in Brussels where he will be joining a conversation with Maroš Šefčovič the Executive Vice-President for the European Commission’s European Green Deal (EDG) and members of the CEO Action Group for the EDG. The meeting is facilitated by the World Economic Forum and Vertical Future is honoured to have been selected to attend as one of their Global Innovators. At a meeting with Mr Šefčovič in January in Davos, members of the CEO Action Group for the EDG discussed the regulatory hurdles they face in reaching their #strategic and green #objectives. As an outcome of that exchange and following written input from Action Group members, the Executive Vice-President invited CEO members to continue the dialogue in Brussels as the Commission finalises its priorities for its next five-year term. The EGD, launched in 2019, remains a critical vehicle to ensure a climate-neutral and competitive future for Europe. The many related policy packages aim to improve European competitiveness through policy initiatives covering #climate, environment, energy, transport, industry, agriculture and #sustainable finance. Achieving this transformation required cannot be done by policymakers alone, it requires strong #collaboration between all relevant stakeholders, including representatives from governments, business and expert communities. The international competitiveness of the European economy is to be strengthened, especially through assuming the lead in “green” technologies. There is no doubt that such a project costs a lot of money. Estimations put it at a total of one trillion euros.
