The last process of the Work-Base Learning (WBL) experience is "REFLECTION". This is an ideal opportunity to reflect on the students learning. To examine setbacks, and discover valuable lessons to avoid engaging with the same errors in the future. But also to acknowledge processes that were successful in the WBL module. It's through these moments of self-reflection where students grow and develop as professionals in the Food Industry. DIFW RSM: Diverse Perspectives, Powerful Learning, and Lasting Impact This week in DIFW RSM was a culmination of learning and collaboration! Case Study Showcase: Our presentations at Erasmus Hub unveiled diverse approaches to the same company, highlighting the richness of different perspectives. Each group, armed with unique lenses, tackled diversity, inclusion, and future of work challenges, highlighting the richness of different viewpoints. The exchange of insightful feedback fueled final improvements on our case studies, Wrapping Up with Reflection & Appreciation: As we approached the course's end, peer reviews became a platform for appreciating the diverse multimedia outputs (posters, podcasts, video blogs) created by our talented classmates. Each piece, infused with creativity and in-depth analysis, offered a distinct perspective on the challenges and opportunities surrounding diversity and inclusion. Inspired by the collective brilliance, my group and I dedicated ourselves to finalizing our case study with the Workshop Foundation. With the finish line in sight, we reflected on the incredible journey, the knowledge gained, and the impact we strive to create. DIFW wasn't just a course; it was an experience. It challenged us to think critically, embrace diverse perspectives, and collaborate for positive change. As we close this chapter, I'm grateful for the learnings, the connections, and the lasting impact this program will have on my approach to diversity, inclusion, and the future of work. #Collaboration #LearningExperience #DIFWRSM #diversity #inclusion

Exciting Times Ahead! As I step into March 1st, 2024, I can't help but reflect on the incredible journey that was 2023. It is only today that I close my 2023 chapter :) a year filled with growth, challenges (exhaustion!), and rewarding experiences. Only today, I bid adieu to the past year's endeavors, and would like to share some highlights that have shaped my professional growth and to thank all those who were part of this dynamic year: 📌 Finalized a comprehensive theoretical research for the FAO, analyzing food safety in the NENA region through the lens of risk analysis and the one health approach. 📌 Developed and delivered four enriching courses on crucial topics such as Allergen Management Control, Developing a Positive Food Safety Culture, EU Food Labeling, and FDA Food Labeling. These courses were a pivotal part of the USAID TRADE project, focusing on enhancing food exports in the Egyptian food industry. 📌 Prepared detailed guidance documents on key areas including food allergen management, fostering a positive food safety culture, and navigating EU and FDA food labeling regulations, all integral to the success of the TRADE project. 📌 Provided expert labeling review support services through DFK comprehesive services, minimizing the risk of product rejection and legal issues for numerous clients. 📌 Designed and currently lecturing the Food Safety Laws and Regulations Master course for the Master of Science program in 'Food Process and Product Engineering' (MSc FPPE), a collaborative effort between Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover and Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik. 📌 Delivered the PCQI course for a number of clients, with excellent feedback. Now, I'm excitingly diving back into my passion for delivering the amazing curriculum of the #PCQI course. But that's not all—stay tuned for the upcoming #BRC Food Safety Standard courses and more exciting ventures on the horizon. In the spirit of lifelong learning, and as Spring approaches and the sun peeks out more often in Hannover, though it's still a bit shy :), I'm thrilled for a fresh start as a learner with #MIT Professional Education, specifically the "Life Cycle Assessment: Quantifying Environmental Impacts" #lca . I'll be learning the tools and methodologies for assessing product impacts on the #environment, so excited to explore how I will transfer these insights to the food processing industry. Here's to embracing new challenges, seizing opportunities, and continuing to expand our knowledge horizons ! I am also open to new research and technical food safety calls! I came across the post below today- what a fun reminder of the good that came out of the pandemic. ⭐️ Four years ago, we were beginning the implementation of brand new onboarding product for Mount Wachusett Community College. The COVID hit. Talk about a crazy ride! So I've just finished facilitating for the latest cohort at Leaf 's "History to Shape History" programme, and I believe some of the ideas that have spawned from prominent discussions I've had are indeed beneficial for all :): 1) Anyone has the power to influence and make an impact: Whether that may be conducting research pertaining to a specific topic, or giving to charity, or being politically active, no matter who you are, you are able to make a difference to the grand scheme of things. Though you may be limited to being a Student (for most of my network) either doing GCSEs or A Levels, whatever skill set you may have is unique to yourself and yourself only, and such distinctiveness is valuable to any high impact career path you may pursue! 2) Keep. Learning. As we progress further into an evermore interconnected society, it is imperative to have as wide as of a general knowledge base as you may upkeep. Everything of a social, political and economic nature is deeply intertwined, each equipped with its own bountiful niches and nuances. I highly advise you become not only familiar with mainstream issues, but induce as many eclectic interests as you can have. It's helped me picture things and explain phenomena not many can do due to having a wider picture on the matter at hand!!! 3) Push your boundaries. For personal and more recent reasons, I currently stink at public speaking compared to who I was 2 years ago. My cohort can reaffirm that haha, but it was an absolute blast fighting my nerves and having fruitful discussions with them encompassing the week-specific topic, as well as educating them on further research topics they weren't exposed to that assisted in their understandings. They really ended up enjoying it, I ended up enjoying it - it's a win-win! Don't just work for money - be a person of principle whatever sector you work in, and make that impact you want to see on the world. As a wise Tesco once said: "Every Little Helps".

This is only the beginning… When a teacher and a chef had a conversation back last April, the tenacity of Julia Mottershead shone through. Meeting Noel Kennedy his support for the ideas was also encouraging. The idea… into improve the food processes and systems across our city Stoke-on-Trent City Council Schools are known for not been budget rich. But they are rich in people, energy and ideas. These have incredible value. How can we improve student experience through food? How can we contribute to curriculum and learning? Is it possible to increase the cognition and skills in students in food at KS3+4? Some of the questions we are keen to explore. There is a synergie with education and hospitality also. One that is not often highlighted. Many people that arrive in our industry are neuro-divergent. Many of which have not been able to find a sense of place within education. Working with schools we can explore personal development, self awareness and skill development with young people. Hospitality offers so much to young people wether it’s for a few years or for their whole career. It’s fantastic to have this partnership with Thistley Hough. The allotment project is a great example of the work that is happening here. #cityallotment
