In recent years, the most popular sport in the world has been decreasing in popularity in Romania due to the weak performance of our local clubs and national team. While many of us may only see a ball being passed around, we should see #teamwork, #determination, #strategy, and the #effort to achieve the best performance against top tier clubs and national teams. These traits are not just for the football, but we should apply them in every aspect of our lives, whether it’s in our professional careers or personal goals. With this year’s Euro 2024, we should try to offer more support to a sport that brings joy and unites people, as we saw during Romania’s performance against Ukraine, where over 35,000 Romanians attended and cheered before and after the game. Let’s continue to support our team and reignite the #passion for football in Romania!

However, in a single match, anything can happen in football, and coach Iordanescu's team might even play a trick against Southgate's squad, supported by the 30,000 enthusiastic Romanian fans who paint the stands of German arenas yellow at every match. But if we look at this chart representing the value of the squads (on the horizontal axis) and the average age (on the vertical axis) of the teams participating in Euro 2024, we would probably think there would be no contest between England and Romania. How can a team worth a total of 90 million euros stop a powerhouse valued at 1,520 million? Fortunately, we know that at the end the field is the true judge, and money isn't everything. However, it's interesting to visually see how much difference there is between the European powerhouses (primarily England, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal) and the others. The relationship between on-field performance and the monetary value of the players is not directly proportional, and this is equally well understood from the chart. Too much disparity. Is this a system that can last long time? In my opinion, no, but I fear that instead of bringing everything back to a more realistic dimension, the gap will widen further, and we will increasingly witness championships and leagues where only the richest will play. Euro2024: A Lesson in Teamwork Over Individual Stars The Euro2024 has shown us that having big-name players only sometimes guarantees victory. We've seen surprising upsets where highly motivated teams without star players triumphed over those with top talents. Take yesterday's match, for instance: after Cristiano Ronaldo missed a penalty, he insisted on taking the first try in the penalty shootout against Slovenia. His determination and leadership are commendable. However, the true star of the match was Diogo Costa, our incredible goalkeeper, who saved three consecutive penalties – a first in the tournament's history! Together with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Bernardo Silva, who scored for Portugal, they showcased the power of teamwork. Cristiano has saved Portugal many times, but his teammates stepped up this time. This is the essence of having a solid team—everyone contributes to the success. If we increase our execution speed, we can win against any team.
