The tech sector may still be cutting back, but the United States Department of Defense is *always* hiring the nation's best talent, from college grads to technical experts and career "transitioners!" You may be familiar with some of the more obvious military career paths thanks to movies like "Maverick," but did you know that DoD is the employer of choice for nearly a million civilian employees across the globe? With over 650 different occupations, there are opportunities ranging from internships and entry-level openings to senior executive positions in thousands of locations worldwide. To help bring more of that talent to DoD, my organization, NSIN - National Security Innovation Network, has a number of (both paid and grade-based) programs that help college students engage directly with and support military organizations - and many of these students go on to fulfilling careers in DoD (in and out of uniform!), in fields as varied as software and hardware-development to accounting to legal to environmental to logistics and medical jobs. Explore the many opportunities and learn more about the types of jobs the DoD has to offer: https://lnkd.in/efyWprAt.
Three alums of the 2022 X-Force Fellowship have brought their talents back to the DoD, taking up roles with Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division and Air Force Research Laboratory. The former fellows are now creating solutions for the warfighter full-time, conducting research on topics like aerodynamics and quantum materials. In reflecting on past experiences in the aerospace engineering industry, I pondered the significance of "trajectory." It's the path of development that resonates with us all, each on a unique journey with unknown variables. Whether in space or in life, we start with what fuels us towards our destination. What's fueling your rocket today? What path are you embarking on? The journey is intriguing; take that leap and discover where you'll soar!
