Last week, Professor Louise Crowley was honoured at the University College Cork Research and Innovation Awards for her work in delivering Sexual Ethics & Respectful Relationships training to the Irish Defence Forces, supported by UCC Consulting. The Bystander Intervention Programme at UCC developed in 2016 by Professor Louise Crowley from School of Law UCC educates and empowers participants to recognise all forms of sexual harassment and violence and empowers them individually and collectively to make safe and effective interventions. Following the Women of Honour revelations, a report was published by the Independent Review Group in March 2023 which identified the need for systemic behavioural change within the Defence forces. As part of the response to this the Defence Forces implemented a series of measure aimed at changing the culture. Delivery of the SERR Programme by UCC Experts will play a significant role initiating the programme. Read more on Prof Crowley's work, published in TheJournal.ie here: https://bit.ly/3VuafPZ

💻 LIVE WEBINAR: HOW TO MANAGE CLIENT ATTRACTION Ethics of Attraction on April 29, 2024, 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM. While the helping professions have explicit prohibitions on sexual involvement with clients, there is less guidance about the phenomena that can lead to such transgressions. How can clinicians ensure that the warmth, trust, and positive regard that are hallmarks of the helping relationship do not become distorted and destructive and that nascent feelings of attraction are not ignored or mishandled? In this session, the presenter addresses how to respond to and ethically handle such feelings. To illustrate these points, clinical dilemmas, boundary issues that often arise in the therapeutic encounter, and strategies to identify and treat them effectively and judiciously will be presented. 👉🏽 Register at the link in bio, https://bit.ly/3u6QYJM. #piedmontahec #clientattraction #attraction #boundaries #clientrelationship #ethics #webinar #unc_ssw @unc_ssw

Sexual misconduct and political partisanship. When presented with real news articles and constructed vignettes about sexual misconduct, people’s (N ≅ 5000) “political orientation, and the interaction between participants’ and alleged perpetrators’ political orientation, predicted moral judgments. Conservative participants were generally more likely inculpate and punish alleged victims in all four studies. Both conservative and liberal participants judged politically-aligned alleged perpetrators more leniently than politically-opposed alleged perpetrators. This political ingroup effect was ubiquitous across all tests of the dependent measures for conservative participants; whereas it was muted and unreliable for liberal participants.” https://lnkd.in/erM2v_kP #politics #ethics #moralPsych #bias #decisionScience
