Student Internships in UCC Library, Summer 2024 UCC Library is launching a new paid internship programme as part of its continued work to support student employability and help students develop future life skills. Internship projects are designed to be valuable learning opportunities, which expose interns to a variety of professional experiences working alongside expert library staff.  This is an exciting opportunity for five current undergraduate or postgraduate students to gain work experience within UCC Library. You will develop a broad range of skills and gain an insight to the varied work undertaken across the library team. You can use this to support you application for an employagility award.     Our 2024 pilot projects are:    1) Alen MacWeeney Archive – Building a photographic archive 2) Reading List Service – Building resources to support student learning  3) Digitisation of UCC Journals – Digitising print journals to complete collection of online UCC journals 4) Digital Scholarship Studio - Evaluate and co-design our service offerings  5) Digital Library Archive – Learning about digital preservation practices and developing scripts    What next? We are looking for enthusiastic students, someone who is curious and keen to develop new skills, or looking to start a career in libraries, archives or digital services.  As a Student Intern you will have   · Strong IT proficiency skills including word processing, databases and spreadsheets.  · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral.  · Initiative and be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.  · Enthusiasm and be curious about the work you do.   To be eligible for the internship you must:  · Be a current UCC student · Be available for the full duration. (July to September) · Be able to fully commit to 120 hours work across the period of the internship.  · Be able to attend onsite onboarding at the start of the project.  · Be able to work onsite throughout as required.
