No company is perfect and there are a lot of companies that don't even do the bare minimum for their employees. I grew up seeing more than one employer unfairly treat my Dad with less than grace and dignity. So seeing Roush Yates Engines do meaningful gestures such as this where they honor the lives of employees means a lot and goes a long way. After each NASCAR race win, we hang the Sunoco Race Fuels checkered flag on the walls of our engine and manufacturing facilities to celebrate each Ford Performance engine win. What many might not know about this tradition, if an employee passes away, we honor the family by sending them the most recent checkered flag. What does success look like for a F1 team? It isn’t just about winning a race but 2 scorecards - driver’s championship and constructor’s title. You have to accumulate most points during the season to win the driver’s championship. It is about an organization obsessed with continuous improvement and innovation. F1 team makes countless modifications to the car and strategy in a season, even during the race. These fine tunings improve performance and also make adaptable changes to secure a win in every race day. On another hand, constructor’s title takes into account the performance of the entire team. There are 2 drivers piloting the same car design. Either driver underperforms, it will bring the entire team down. Also, it goes beyond drivers' performance. Top-notch drivers need to have a well-practiced pit team to change tires for them and the race engineers to calculate the best strategy possible. High performance is never a matter of one-off or individual achievement but it is all about embracing consistency, driving continuous improvement & unleashing collective success. Chimneys, horns and ailerons   McLaren Group represents one of the very best British brands out there, encompassing innovation and deployment of cutting-edge tech and one I have huge admiration for. This is something fundamental that really resonates with our vision at 1fs Wealth.   Whilst the end product with McLaren is a car (although during Covid they generously turned their hand to manufacturing ventilators for hospitals) both road and racing, the company remains at heart all about innovation. In a similar way, 1fs Wealth is a technology company but the products we deploy are designed to be ‘a way of life’ delivering seamless solutions to control and increase wealth.   I was recently honoured to be invited on a private tour of the McLaren factory to talk all things tech innovation and cars. Huge thanks to George Farquhar, Global VIP Relations Manager at McLaren, for his generous time and sharing such interesting facts - I learnt a lot!   By the way - 'chimney, horns and ailerons' refers to the aerodynamic aids on an F1 car. One of the many facts I learnt was that the company's batch of PhDs come up with a new innovation every 14 minutes!
