Winning cultures and good leadership are summed up by this quote from University of Tennessee, Knoxville Lady Vols new basketball coach at her press conference … "You want to be somewhere where the expectations are high” said Kim Caldwell. "I've had a lot of opportunities in my career to look at jobs and I was never interested in a job that did not have high expectations, did not have a loyal fanbase, did not have a hungry crowd that wanted to pay attention to what was going on.” The same applies to our career. We should seek out opportunities where accountability, excellence and growth mindsets are required. Many turn down potential life changing opportunities because they are scared of the high expectations. It’s also important to make sure the resources are in place or available to deliver on those expectations. Pressure is a privilege. We shouldn’t fear it but rather use it to keep us focused on the goal. Most of us seek to meet expectations. If the expectations are low, there’s a chance our performance will be too! Put yourself in the right environment to be successful and do the daily work.
