Our big ask is the dessert dash where every table gets a dessert donated by a local bakery but the order the table gets to select their dessert is determined by how much money they raise. Dedicated teachers are often willing to pay for these much-needed supplies out of their own pockets to make sure the kids in their classrooms have the necessary tools to learn. On average, teachers spend $800-$1200 a year on school supplies for their students. Our Answer Teachers’ Treasures, in partnership with local businesses, charitable foundations, neighborhood organizations and individual contributors, helps fill this need by operating a volunteer-based “Store for Teachers.” Donated educational supplies and other materials are distributed via this unique conduit to teachers for the benefit of their students. We serve teachers from any school (public, private, charter, or parochial) in Marion County and the immediate surrounding school districts with 60% or more of the student population on the free or reduced lunch programs.

I’m committed to SCHOOL CHOICE FOR PARENTS. Every parent understands the importance of education for their children, but our schools are too often failing to prepare our children to truly advance in life. Ideas such as school choice will allow all parents – not just the wealthy – to take control of their children’s education. School vouchers have been proven to work. Each of the faces in this picture represent why afterschool programs are important. These #O6Afterschool students from Main Street Elementary School in Florence County School District Three attended an educational field trip in Columbia this week. Main Street is 1 of 12 #O6Afterschool programs operating in SC public schools. Why is the #O6Afterschool program important? ➡️ When kids want to attend #O6Afterschool they attend school during the regular day boosting daily attendance numbers. ➡️ When kids attend #O6Afterschool they spend time in a positive nurturing environment verses some returning home to an empty house while parents finish their work days. ➡️ When kids attend #O6Afterschool they get help with their homework in a small classroom setting. ➡️ There is never a charge to attend. All services are offered free. Our programs are growing significantly. Great News! We've recently received a donation to build a toilet block at Mbiede School, marking significant progress in combating diseases like cholera and ensuring privacy and security, especially for girls. However, out of 15 schools, this is only the third to have such facilities. While we've managed to construct two new classrooms last year, there are still two older ones in dire need of rebuilding. The conditions of these classrooms are unfit for learning, as seen in the video taken in mid-April 2024. Mbiede School currently accommodates students across different grades with limited resources. Although we have two new classrooms built with cement and aesthetics, they lack basic necessities like school benches. As a result, students are forced to sit on the floor during classes. We've recently secured a donation for school benches to furnish two classrooms, a crucial step towards providing a minimum level of comfort for learning. Each bench costs $40 and accommodates 2 to 5 children, depending on their grade level. However, the shortage of school benches remains a challenge in most rural schools, hindering the educational experience of countless children.
