Yesterday, my Uber driver couldn’t wait to tell me all about his EP that he just dropped… He shared the backstory, the purpose, the emotion behind each song he played. It was incredible. Seeing how much he lit up, talking about something he loved while doing something, he needed to do to make ends meet while he worked on his passion. I told him about a story I heard recently about how a tree grows in two different different directions… It grows up and it grows down at the same time. Often times, we see the successful people, a.k.a. the fruit bearers, and we think… Gosh, why isn’t that happening for me? But in reality… They had been building their roots underground for so long and now they are finally seeing the fruits of their labor. I hear people say all the time… Why hasn’t this happened yet? Why am I not seeing traction? Why, why, why? And in reality… It takes time to nurture and build your roots before you’re able to bear fruit. I left my sweet Uber driver with this realization… A very small percentage of people have a dream, an even smaller percentage run toward that dream and an even smaller percentage will stay consistent to see the dream through. Building our dreams is not easy. If it were, everyone would be doing it. It takes grit, resilience, and a whole lot of belief in yourself. So if you are someone who has a dream, is building upon that dream, or waiting for the fruit to bear… I see you, I support you, and I encourage you to just keep going! With a deep, rooted belief system, strategic networking, and the ability to dream bigger than ever before, you’ll be bearing fruit before you know it!

People protested, and leaders in some countries said no to Uber. Travis said, "Grow or Die" and didn't give up, even when it got tough. Only 8% of grown-ups used Uber once a month at first. Now, lots of people use it whenever they want! Uber's journey wasn't easy, especially when Garrett left. Uber had big problems, but Travis always found ways to fix them. On January 16th, 2023, I booked an Uber package delivery, and the delivery guy promptly picked up the package. However, despite the initial confirmation, the package was never delivered. I have tried to address this issue with Uber's customer support, but unfortunately, I'm only receiving generic pre-created replies, and the matter remains unresolved. This has been a frustrating experience, and I believe in the power of community support. How to look up your Uber ratings, step-by-step... I promised myself once I achieved Level 4 Financial Zen (less than 9 years out), then I could stop taking Muni to work. So two months ago, I started "splurging" and taking Ubers in the morning. For me, Uber is a splurge and my splurges are contingent on long-term achievements. Until then I was an Uber "Light" customer. With more trips under my belt, I improved my rating and I've reduced my pick-up time from 10 minutes to 3. (A driver gets your ranking before they pick you up and they can cancel the ride if they don't like what they see.) Since time is money, it pays to have a good rating. Here's how to view your data in the Uber App. Account > Settings > Privacy > Privacy Center > See summary > View my ratings BONUS TIP: Apply the reciprocity principle and tell the driver it was a "five star ride" as your leaving to let him know you're giving him 5 stars and he'll be more likely to give you 5 stars too.
