No one should face the end of life in isolation. It is a fundamental human need to have companionship and support at this crucial time. With families often scattered across different locations and busy schedules, the support network for individuals facing end-of-life is limited. Death Doulas step in to fill this gap. In contrast to birth doulas who support individuals during the birthing process, Death Doulas work with those approaching the end of life, helping them and their families prepare for death with dignity and grace. They provide non-medical holistic support to individuals and their families before, during, and after death. In a society where death is often considered a taboo subject, the presence of Death Doulas can help ensure that individuals experience a more peaceful, dignified, and supported transition at the end of life, filling a unique and important need in society.
