Interesting insight in healthcare here: as we encourage patients to take more control of their condition and relive the burden on the HCP, does tech become the third party, taking control from both?
I’ve worked with insights while consulting to healthcare for 20 years now. However, I never get over how different it feels to experience insight as the patient. This summer marks 30 years since my diagnosis with Type 1 Diabetes. I’ve lived through a number of medical innovations… from mixing insulin in a syringe, to insulin pumps, to the Freestyle Libre flash glucometer. Just this week (happy anniversary!) I started on the Medtronic “hybrid closed loop” continuous glucometry system. A mouthful. But basically, a sensor under my skin talks to my pump, which controls my insulin. An algorithm calculates my basal rates… learning all the time. And all I have to do is dose for meals. Here's the thing… I’ve found the ‘loss of control’ disconcerting as hell. Ironic, given that my actual blood glucose control has been fantastic (see my graph). But from an emotional experience perspective, having been used to doing math, and doing corrections, and having to troubleshoot… I feel like I’m a third wheel now. It’s been a fascinating feeling. Having to do less, and being in better range, but feeling … lost a bit. I’m sure it will pass. And I have no doubt it's for the better, healthwise. But I wonder if Medtronic knew how their amazing tech would leave dyed-in-the-wool diabetics feeling on the other side of it.

I help Coaches, Consultants and Companies to attract clients and Achieve Sustainable Results | Expert Partner in Growth and Advertising.
Ever noticed how the magic often happens in the overlap between innovation and personalized care? 🌟 In an industry where one-size-fits-all is far from sufficient, tailoring healthcare solutions to individual needs isn't just preferable; it's critical. Let's talk about a scenario where this approach not only changed but potentially saved a life. Picture an 80-year-old patient facing severe heart issues – a situation that would make anyone's heart skip a beat. The decision? A minimally invasive procedure called Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). This choice wasn't made lightly. It took into consideration the latest advancements in medical treatments, alongside the unique health parameters of the patient. The result? Success, without complications, leading to a stable discharge. This story isn't just about celebrating medical achievements; it’s a testament to an essential shifting paradigm in healthcare. Moving towards personalized care doesn't only offer hope; it brings tangible results. So, what does this mean for us as innovators, consultants, and coaches in our respective fields? It serves as a powerful reminder that at the heart of effective strategies lies the profound understanding of unique challenges and needs. Whether we're designing health plans or business growth strategies, let's not forget: customizing our approach can be the difference between success and failure. In embracing this mindset, we unlock limitless possibilities for growth and improvement — not just for our clients but for society at large. Here’s to more personalized strategies that lead to breakthroughs across industries! #Innovation #PersonalizedCare #GrowthMindset
