Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of the Black community. On this day in 1865, the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom, marking a pivotal moment in American history. Juneteenth is a celebration of emancipation and a testament to the enduring spirit of resilience. Despite centuries of oppression, the fight for freedom, equality, and justice continues. As we honor this day, let's reflect on the lessons of resilience it teaches us: 🌟 Strength in Adversity: Even in the face of unimaginable hardships, the pursuit of freedom and equality never wavered. 🌟 Power of Community: We can overcome the most significant challenges and create a better future for all. 🌟 Embracing Authenticity: Celebrate your heritage, culture, and identity with pride. Let's carry these lessons forward, building a world where everyone can rise, thrive, and be authentic. Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏽🖤 #Juneteenth #Resilience #Freedom #RisingResilience #BlackHistory #CelebrateFreedom

February is #BlackHistoryMonth, a time to celebrate and contemplate the achievements and legacy of Black people. We believe that Black history lives beyond one month. As we reflect on the words of the late Maya Angelou, we are reminded that we need courage to face history and continue our efforts to transform the future. In the midst of so much suffering in the world, we remember the many people and cultures who have experienced and are experiencing genocide and injustice. May we not repeat history. – How can you be courageous to challenge false narratives and better understand the truths of our history and of today? – What role does courage play in transforming the future? – What is something you can do, even a micro-act, to ensure history is not repeated? #MayaAngelou #LiberatEDSEL

I attended to a Black History Month event called Encountering Archives as a Person of Color. It was a fantastic experience that made me realize how much I underestimated the value of archives - and the issues within the industry, particularly when it came to minorities. Not only in terms of preservation and communication, but also in terms of general representation. They have recently struggled to attract youthful people to the archives, let alone the cultural heritage business. Why? Perhaps because of the overall misperception that comes with learning about history in general, or because of the ongoing reminder of oppression within minorities. Making minorities appear to be the focus of their subjugation and liberation process - denigrating our past before to and after enslavement or colonial era. History is crucial to your overall understanding of how the world came to be and how it will unfold. This event was a crucial reminder of that.

#Blackhistory includes centuries of joy, placemaking, and innovation. Even though #Westernhistory considers #babylon the "first" recognized #civilization [to record its existence], let's not forget that everything started in #africa. #blackhistoryisourhistory #africanhistoryisourhistory #blackhistorymonth #blackhistory365

Black history is a truth, a lived experience, a celebration. During #BlackHistoryMonth, reject the normalization of anti-Black racism and white supremacy in your community and in political discourse. Do not just honor the hardships and resistance that have been part of Black history... Name the system of white supremacy that purposefully created these hardships, AND honor Black joy and humanity in the past, present, and future. How are you committing to foster change and challenge white supremacy within your sphere of influence? Share in the comments to inspire others to take action. ✊ And read more on this topic here: https://ow.ly/rbtQ50Qwt0J #RacialJustice #RacialEquity #BlackHistory #BlackHistoryIsAmericanHistory #EndRacism

There is NO "White" history, without Black History. Race is a construct, like the "Middle East", both created to maintain a superior status, based on color hierarchy, worldwide. In FACT, the HIGHLY MELANATED, and INDIGENOUS or, so-called, Black peoples of the World, including the Americas, are FOUNDATIONal to ALL WORLD CIVILization. In the United States, through government census tactics, the ORIGINAL Americans of a RICHer Hue or more HIGHLY MELANATED were categorized as Negro or Colored and over the next hundred years became categorized as Black, Afro American, and, now, African American. This is what is known as a "Paper Genocide". If you don't know the language and traditions of your Great GREAT GRANDMOTHER, You are, successfully, cut off from your SOURCE. We were, Already, here! World History is Black History.... Non melanated (or lesser melated peoples), so-called, Whites, are new to the human landscape, by a few thousand years. Their legacy is destruction, domination, theft, and enSlavement of the ORIGINAL peoples of the planet and their lands, natural resources and wealth, as well as intellectual Creativity and Prowess. #WeWereAlreadyHere #BlackHistoryIsWorldHistory
