I love this resource for anyone learning a language.... not just English. (Yes, it's designed for English practice but could be easily adjusted for other languages). One of the many challenges I have seen language learners face (including myself) is daily practice! There are great ideas here about making a daily commitment to your language learning!

Absolutely. #2 is HUGE. I always tell writers that whatever you pitch, however you show up in the room, someone else has to take that information to the next room and pitch you. Writers, like most people, only think about their part of the creative process. As someone who has been on both sides of the table as an exec and a writer, I'm trying to bridge the gap between writers and executives (sometimes that includes reps). Writers aren't the only ones pitching/selling. We all are in order to get projects made.

⚪ Friday Pearl of Wisdom ⚪ #20 Don't translate between two people who speak the same language. This is a Triple P Pearl. Particularly Pertinent to Producers. I've always made a point to learn as much as I can about the workflow and skills of the other professions outside of Producer that build a production. For two disparate reasons. Firstly, to have enough context to show a genuine understanding and appreciation of their work and skill. Secondly, less importantly, to have enough context to know when I'm being served bullshit and told it's a silky ganache. I've learned a lot. Not least of all that I'll never know as much as a talented professional who has dedicated a lifetime to their particular craft. Producers are the fulcrum of a project. The owners of information. It's a skill to recognise when to get yourself out of the way of people who will have a more valuable conversation than the sum of the two conversations you'd have had with each of them. Be the telephone operator, not the translator. Stay on the line, ears open. You'll save time, improve the output and learn something. Will you blag your way through a technical conversation this week? Do technically skilled individuals actually appreciate or resent it when Producers know what they're on about?
