🌞🌐 Delving deep into the crux of the pressing need to amp up the growth rate of solar and other renewable energy sources, our future depends on whether or not we can meet the formidable green goals set by international leaders. 🏘️👷♀️ ✔️ Goals set at COP28 risk falling short by 13.5% if the current pace continues. ✔️ Governments, the private sector, and civil society need to work together to meet demands. ✔️Included in this process are solar companies tapping into opened opportunities and homeowners deciding to make the move to solar power for their homes. This intriguing blog post expertly clarifies a crude reality revealed by recent International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) research; the growth rate of renewable energy, including solar, is lagging. Even with a record increase of 14% in 2023, if this trend persists, we will miss the targets established at the Conference of the Parties (COP28). The IRENA report highlights the urgency for a higher growth pace in renewables. Regardless of the industry outperforming fossil fuels in recent years, complacency is not an option. The responsibility to augment renewable power use lies with all stakeholders; governments need to set clear renewable objectives and expedite the process of permit issuance. Private sector and civil society—including solar companies and individual homeowners—also need to take action in catalyzing the momentum towards a greener future. Currently, the narrative surrounding climate investment must change from being seen as a burden to being recognized as a valuable opportunity for economic and social development. Now is the time to act, and every contribution matters in meeting the targets set for renewable energy. For more information on selling solar virtually across the USA visit www.tstpros.com. 📩🖱️🌞

Driving Impactful Change as Donor Relations Manager | Co-Leading Women in Nature (WIN) | Passionate about Positive Global Impact
FINAL AGREEMENT: A Path Forward for Climate Action Amidst late-night negotiations at #COP28, a pivotal moment emerged, transforming a discordant text into a beacon of hope for addressing the climate crisis. The culmination of these discussions signifies a watershed moment—the willingness of governments, for the first time, to embrace a shift away from reliance on fossil fuels. While it falls short of the decisive leap the world urgently requires, it represents a monumental stride in the right direction. I invite you to read The Nature Conservancy’s comprehensive statement on the negotiations penned by Andrew Deutz, TNC's Managing Director of Global Policy and Conservation Finance, accessible through the link below, shared by our CEO Jennifer Morris. Together, let us acknowledge this progress while continuing to advocate and work relentlessly for more ambitious and impactful measures to safeguard our planet's future.
We set out with bold, ambitious goals for #COP28 and as we cull through the final text, The Nature Conservancy is heartened to see the call to triple the world’s installed renewable energy capacity to 11,000 gigawatts by 2030 in the agreed text of COP28. This marks a clear recognition of the role renewable energy must play and the acceleration needed to phase out fossil fuels from energy systems worldwide. So, while the language on fossil fuels falls short of calling for a phase out and instead agrees only to transition away, the inclusion of a call to triple renewables by 2030 is a bright spot. This is a much-needed signal that we must boost the energy solutions that help us more rapidly phase out fossil fuels. And, as our own Bruce McKenney so accurately says "Actions must now follow the words. Making the tripling goal a reality will require investment and increasing the social license for renewables by delivering for climate, conservation, and communities. TNC is proud to have been among the leading organizations supporting the 3xRenewables campaign led by the Global Renewables Alliance and IRENA. Now, we must work together to accelerate renewables for a rapid, nature-positive, and just transition." TNC and Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) announced earlier at COP a joint declaration to work together to develop, establish, and deliver on a five-point Global Action Plan on Tripling Renewables with a Nature Positive and Just Transition. We encourage all interested parties to join us in working to triple renewables by 2030 for clean, green, and equitable energy future. https://lnkd.in/exDhEkF5

While #COP28 didn't land on the decisive language we need to ensure a global phase out of fossil fuels, it has resulted in a promising step that sees at least 120 countries commit to tripling renewable energy by 2030. In response, The Nature Conservancy and Global Renewables Alliance have announced a joint declaration to work together on an action plan to triple renewables with a nature positive and just transition. We now need action and accountability to match the ambition of this commitment. As we implement, we need to keep communities at the core of everything we do.

Renewable energy is surging ahead, with a record 107 gigawatts added this year, yet fossil fuels maintain their grip on the global energy mix.🌍 As we approach #COP28, nations are investing $1.73 in clean energy for every dollar in fossil fuels, a significant shift from the 1:1 ratio five years ago. Brazil leads in renewable energy use, while China, the US, and Brazil top the charts for installed capacity. The energy transition is accelerating, but will it be enough to meet the Paris Agreement goals? What are the challenges facing the growth of #renewables? IEEFA’s Ramnath N. Iyer identifies the policy gaps and gives suggestions in his new commentary. At the #COP28 UN #climatechange conference, countries have pledged to triple the world’s renewable #energy capacity by 2030. But there remain substantial challenges. Iyer points to the unequal geographical adoption of renewables, rising cost of capital that deters investment, and underinvestment in related areas such as grid and storage — as well as the non-financial barriers: the lack of policy clarity, onerous or unclear permitting requirements, and land acquisition problems. My absolute highlight of #COP28 so far is Australia’s pledge to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030 and double energy efficiency. Renewables stand as the cleanest and most cost-effective energy source. Coupled with energy efficiency measures, this initiative is poised to drive down bills and emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future. Australia, with the highest penetration of rooftop solar globally and an abundance of sun and wind resources, is steadfast in its commitment to achieving 82% renewables by 2030. This not only contributes to domestic energy security (reducing reliance on global energy resources, prices, and politics) but also positions Australia as a key player in the global clean energy transition. The expanded Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) is a crucial element of Australia's commitment, aiming to deliver 32GW of new renewable generation and storage. This initiative provides certainty for renewable investors and ensures a faster buildup of capacity. Let's celebrate this milestone! https://lnkd.in/gKS9V-Xv VinZero, an ARKANCE company ARKANCE RenewEconomy #RenewableEnergy #ClimateAction #Sustainability #AustraliaInAction
