No one wants spoiled fish, melted ice cream sandwiches, or insulin gone bad. Cold chain innovator Artyc is busy making sure goods that need to be cold, stay cold during shipping. Without spending too much energy to do it. (Right now we spend ~5% of our global energy generation on temperature controlled logistics.) The Artyc team has created a reliable, eco-friendly shipping solution that ensures your goods remain at the perfect temperature while also providing real time data and tracking to help verify the quality of the shipment. It's an industry ripe for innovation of the best kind: new technology like Artyc’s will not only improve profitability for all parties involved by reducing spoilage losses, but also help decarbonize the journey it takes for some of our most vital goods to reach us. Solving how we move stuff from point A to point B in a fast, reliable, and sustainable manner has one of the largest potentials to improve human life. And there is a exciting opportunity to build a massive, profitable business. These are the kinds of companies that we love at Lowercarbon and it's been a privilege to work with the Artyc team as they build the future of cold shipping.

What prompted it all: “Could we electrify the cold chain? What would it look like to do battery-powered shipping?” What they made: The device is a white plastic cube, small enough that it can be held with one hand. Pop the lid, and inside up to four vials can be stored. On the outside, there’s a USB-C port to charge a lithium-ion battery that powers a solid-state heat pump, which provides cooling or heating depending on outside conditions. The cube can keep samples at 3 degrees C (37.4 degrees F) for at least 56 hours. Thermometers, accelerometers and GPS keep track of the package, and a cellular connection lets customers keep tabs on its precious cargo. Who made it: Hannah Sieber and the Artyc team use battery-powered refrigeration to create sustainable and reliable shipping solutions for temperature-sensitive items -- starting off with pharmaceuticals; with a total addressable market down the road including perishable foods, chemicals/materials to name a few. So proud to be an investor and supporter.

Did you know that electronic waste, also known as e-waste, is considered the "fastest growing waste stream in the world"? In 2016, 44.7 million tons were generated, equivalent to 4500 Eiffel Towers! 🌍 The rising demand for new electronic devices, coupled with short innovation cycles and low recycling rates, has led to an exponential increase in e-waste. These wastes contain potentially harmful materials like lead, cadmium, and brominated flame retardants. If not managed properly, they can pose a significant risk to human health and the environment 🔋 You can be part of the solution in Tampa! Follow these simple steps and join the electronic revolution: ✅ Visit https://lnkd.in/dwzFQy4G ✅ Find the nearest Community Collection Partner. ✅ Give those devices a second life by recycling them. ✅ When dropping them off, scan the QR code, fill out the form, and get your #eRevolutionary certificate. 57% did not believe that electronic waste was "a significant contributor to toxic waste." This statistic is truly alarming. What many don't realize is that those old devices we keep at home, like old phones, cables, and batteries, are the very things contributing to this issue. Each of these devices contains substances that, if not handled properly, can harm our environment and health. Imagine the positive impact we could make if everyone in Tampa properly recycled these devices. Not only would we be protecting our environment, but we'd also be giving these devices a second chance to change the lives of entire families in our community. ✅ Visit https://lnkd.in/dwzFQy4G ✅ Find the nearest Community Collection Partner. ✅ Give those devices a second life by recycling them. ✅ When you drop them off, scan the QR code, fill out the form, and get your #eRevolutionary certificate. Never underestimate the power of your actions. Recycle and become a change agent in Tampa. #eSmartRecycling #eRevolution #recycletoday #greeninnovation #sustainablefuture #ecotech #recyclingmatters #tampa
