With everything in the media later about social media and youth mental health, now is a good time for providers to contribute their knowledge of what could / should be done. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and Altarum are seeking healthcare providers (pediatricians, psychologists, therapists, social workers, etc.) who serve youth ages 11-21 to take part in a study to help identify promising strategies, policies, approaches, and innovations that exist related to healthy social media use among youth, as well as needs and challenges. The study's goal is to identify promising strategies, policies, approaches, and innovations related to healthy social media use among youth, as well as needs and challenges. Study findings will guide and inform the development of resources, trainings, and tools the AAP intends to create for use in the health and education sectors. The study has two components:   -Focus groups to better understand healthcare provider’s perspectives and observations related to youth social media use and mental health. Virtual focus groups with up to 10 participants, 60-minutes in length, will be scheduled to occur in Summer 2024. If you are selected and participate in a focus group, you will receive a $125 electronic gift card via email as a thank you for your time.  -National web-based survey to gather baseline information and data around perceptions of social media use and youth mental health. The survey is estimated to take 10-15 minutes to complete and will be administered in Summer 2024. If you complete the survey, you will receive a $5 electronic gift card via email as a thank you for your time. We're honored and excited to play a big role at next week's #sdmh2024, where the focus is on the future, now! Alison Darcy’s keynote on AI and mental health delivery promises to kick things off with a bang. Tim Campellone, PhD and Megan Flom, Ph.D. Flom will each be presenting flash talks on the top-line results and approaches to health equity in our recently completed RCT exploring the use of generative AI in a digital mental health intervention. Panelists Trina Histon, PhD Histon and Chris Hemphill will bring it home talking about implementing digital mental health solutions and AI and LLMs in digital mental health. 

A little Friday read for you. Career journeys are never as clean and simple as they appear from the outside. In fact, it's the bumps and bruises that offer the best lessons.
