This week we've had broken YouTube links, LinkedIn taking offence at our 4k quality video and compressing it to look like you were watching it through a potato AND (not that anyone noticed/maybe you're all just too polite!) Buenos dias, LinkedIn! Week 11 of 2024 AND #5 Wake Up Wednesday ✨️ FEAR! One of the greatest tools our human mind has given us to protect ourselves and also one of the most debilitating tools from trying something new and taking that leap. 🤸🏽♀️ February 9th, Mountain Mojo Group participated in Canyon Coolers Cooler Races to benefit Flagstaff Family Food Center: Food Bank and Kitchen. Kenny and I volunteered as tributes to ride down an epic sled led and created by Austin Leggett, friends, and our Mojo Team. What an experience! This was our second race where we won and COMPLETELY wiped out. So many folks had came up to disclose their fears of never doing anything like that cause of the risk. Shooken up after the fall, we had zero concerns to do it again because of the following: ✨️ Support from our team! We knew we were in good hands and as nerve wrecked as we were, we knew it'd workout. ✨️ Facing the unknown. You miss a 100% of the shots you don't take and we weren't going to back out and NOT find out how we could do! ✨️ Opportunity. Yes, this was a super fun fundraiser BUT it was still a fundraiser nonetheless that went to a great cause. We did not want to miss out on the opportunity to not only support FFFC, but to partake in an experience with our community to strengthen our ties and support one another! Be rational of course, but don't let Fear make your decisions. Be brave to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the support you have, Fear of the unknown and don't miss opportunity! I first learned about Build-a-bike from Carol Karlin while working for Lend Lease in Manhattan more than 15 years ago. I can still vividly recall the day Carol shared an incredible team-building program with me. I couldn't help but imagine the participants' varied reactions as they discovered what the day had in store for them. Some were perhaps hesitant, reluctant to step away from their desks, while others might have been skeptical about the concept – wondering how building bikes could relate to their daily tasks. A few individuals may even have approached the day with a sense of "playing hooky." This program still resonates with me because groups of people transform into true 'teams' when they rally behind a shared purpose larger than any individual task. Working together to accomplish something meaningful fosters a sense of camaraderie and belonging. And when people face challenges together, it only serves to strengthen team bonds. As these experiences and shared history accumulate, a vibrant team culture takes shape. Stories of overcoming obstacles, acts of kindness, and the lasting impact of their efforts weave together to create the fabric of a united team. The language, norms, and values evolve, reinforcing the team's identity. I've been so inspired by the Build-A-Bike program from The Leaders Institute, that I've recommended it to many of my clients. The way it fosters a stronger team culture is so unique. The most touching moment comes at the end of the session, when you witness the children receiving the bikes. The feeling that washes over the room is unforgettable and stays with people long after the event ends, becoming an integral part of the team's shared history.
