🍇 What are the stories behind family-owned Canadian wineries❓ https://lnkd.in/gVW4X4Bu 🌱 There are four major regions in Canada that produce wines made from grapes: BC, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. 🍷 Ontario makes about 63% of the wine, BC 33% and 2% for each of Quebec and NS, with more than 700 wineries from coast to coast and 1,800 grape growers. 💰 Every bottle of 100% Canadian wine contributes $90 to the national economy versus just $16 for an imported bottle. 🏞️ Pride of place literally grounds them all. Often the land on which their vineyards are planted is owned by the family, in some cases for several generations. 🌿 I should also add that they all acknowledge that they farm on the traditional territories of our Indigenous nations. 🌍 Being deeply connected to the soil that makes your wine, especially when your name is on the bottle, is a very different mindset from wines conceived in a focus group and made by blending grapes that may be hundreds or thousands of kilometres apart without that connection. 🌳 Family-owned wineries are often driven more by legacy than by the bottom line. 🏆 Of course, they need to be profitable to stay in business, but they also want to create something they can hand down to future generations. 📦 These wineries will ship these wines and others they produce across the country right to your doorstep, so there’s never been a better time or an easier way to support our homegrown farmers from coast to coast on July 1st and throughout the summer! 🍁 Do you have a favourite Canadian wine❓ Let me know in the comments 👇 Cheers🥂, Natalie 🍷 PS Get my free "Ultimate Guide to Wine & Food Pairing" at: https://lnkd.in/ghiPfx_F ✉️ Or just DM me and ask for the guide! The frigid onset of the new year has yielded a bountiful harvest for winegrowers. The resurgence of winter, marked by temperatures plummeting to minus eleven degrees, has once again presented the opportunity to produce ice wine in January. Nevertheless, Ernst Büscher from the German Wine Institute (DWI) underscores the increasing rarity of ice wines. Although many wine-growing regions successfully harvested ice wine grapes this year, only a handful of wineries executed this distinctive harvest. Ice wine poses risks for winegrowers, requiring grapes to be thoroughly frozen for the harvest. The diminishing occurrence of icy temperatures has led to a decline in registered areas for ice wine harvests. Several wineries in Rheinhessen, Württemberg, Franconia, and the Moselle were able to initiate ice wine harvests in early December. Austria also commenced its ice wine harvest in December, with Burgenland, Lower Austria, and Styria participating. 🌬️✨ Österreich Wein Marketing GmbH - Austrian Wine Marketing Board - Deutsches Weininstitut, The German Wine Institute i.e. Wines of Germany worldwide Which ice wine varieties are on your must-try list? 🍷 #icewine #winegrowing #winemaking #wineknowledge #prowein #proweintradefair #prowein2024 #winebusiness #wineprofessionals #winetasting #wineshop #winetrends #tradefair #winetrade #winecommunity #winetradefair

Latest Foods and Drinks Offers by Latest Business Offers. Title: Buy Japanese Wines Online From Great Wines Direct Link: https://lnkd.in/ema9sr6v While grapes have long been cultivated in Japan, it is only in the last hundred years of so that wine has been produced there. It wasn’t until the Meiji restoration when Western culture began to be widely adopted that the idea of using grapes to make wine really arose in the country. Although 110,000 kilolitres of wine is produced in Japan every year, only 25% of that amount is made from grapes that have been actually grown domestically and harvested in the country. #japanesewine #winejapanese #winejapan #winejapanese #greatwinesdirect #onlinewines #drinks #foodanddrinks #japan
