Check out a film done by our PhD student about #environmentaljustice, #indigenouspeoples, and #socialnetworkanalysis !
Premiering my new film on environment justice: "Managing the Potomac: Featuring the Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia" Please watch and let me know what you think! Summary: This is a story about the intersection of science and Indigenous communities. Focusing on the Potomac River Watershed, this film highlights inequalities in environmental management. The Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia, the original people of the Potomac River, discuss environmental injustices facing their community. Filmmaker and PhD student, Veronica Malabanan Lucchese, uses social network analysis, or the scientific study of relationships, to identify the most and least influential managers. Tying together research and personal histories, “Managing the Potomac: Featuring the Patawomeck Tribe of Virginia” shows the need for more inclusive management. This film was supported by the UMCES Integration & Application Network, the COAST Card project, and the Environmental Justice Journalism Initiative. #environmentaljustice #indigenous #socialnetworkanalysis #potomac #watershed #management #inclusion

Here at Non-Academic, developing thought leadership is close to our hearts. We, therefore, ask our participants to bring a unique thought every week. But sometimes our participants struggle to find unique thoughts, so we also teach them how to spot and develop unique thoughts with the help of our "Perspective Building" workshop. In this thought-provoking video, Aishi sheds light on a common yet often overlooked issue - unintentional inappropriate feeding of wildlife. She advocates for a practical solution to this problem by introducing a mobile feature that empowers wildlife enthusiasts to make informed choices when offering food to animals. This innovative approach not only promotes responsible wildlife interactions but also contributes to the preservation of natural ecosystems. https://lnkd.in/eX3ujkGG
