Farm to Fisher It’s hard to believe summer is winding down… however this year instead of the days of being a mom getting kids ready for school or supporting back-to-school season at work, I’ll be the one wearing the student badge :) We took the summer to truly disconnect, and although quiet online the past couple months, we were less than quiet in the day-to-day - pouring our efforts into family and the “farm”, with the latter being a small, but challenging labor of love. We did welcome some new “ladies” to the land, as our son brought in the start of his herd and cow-calf operations. All hands were ready to help… including some little visitors. It’s truly been a privilege to have had such a robust career so far; and it is one of the reasons that education is top of my mind. A rewarding career should be one worth examining, in areas such as: • Knowledge: Challenging what you think you know, and discovering what you don’t • Leadership: Validating strengths, studying mistakes, and always learning from others • Relevancy: Staying current on markets, behavioral shifts, technologies and trends • Self-reflection: Thoughtful pursuit of an ‘examined life’; to “know thyself” I’m excited to have the leadership, expertise, and community of The Ohio State Fisher College of Business as a support for such an examination. There are so many topics I am eager to explore, solution together, and share. One that was shared this week is how the labor market is impacting staffing in the US, which continues to be a hot topic in our conversations. How will the changing labor markets affect the workplace and human resources in the future? Interesting reports just released from U.S. Chamber of Commerce, with links to variability by state and industry: Understanding America’s Labor Shortage https://lnkd.in/gR_2Bqw9, Stephanie Ferguson, Director, Global Employment Policy & Special Initiatives, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Wishing you all the best and look forward to continued conversations!

Let the summer BEGIN!! Summer isn't just a season; it's a powerful metaphor for finances, success, and wealth. Here’s how: Abundance and Growth In summer, nature is in full bloom, symbolizing a period of financial prosperity and business growth. It’s a time when investments yield high returns, and wealth accumulates. Harvest and Reaping Rewards Farmers harvest their crops in summer, reaping the rewards of their hard work. Similarly, this represents the phase where individuals or businesses enjoy the benefits of their strategic planning and investments. Energy and Activity Summer is synonymous with high energy and activity. This mirrors a time of high productivity and dynamic business ventures, where goals are pursued with vigor. Light and Clarity The long, bright days of summer bring clarity and visibility. In finances, this signifies transparency, clear vision, and informed decision-making. Enjoyment and Leisure Summer is a time for relaxation and enjoyment, reflecting the freedom that financial stability brings. It’s the ability to enjoy life’s pleasures without financial stress. Warmth and Relationships Summer warmth fosters gatherings and strong social connections, emphasizing the importance of building relationships and networking for financial success. Preparation for Future Seasons Summer is a time to prepare for the colder months ahead, highlighting the importance of saving and investing wisely for future stability. Peak and Pinnacle Summer represents the peak of the year, symbolizing the achievement of major milestones and significant financial success. Vibrancy and Innovation Summer’s vibrant colors represent creativity and innovation, a time for fresh perspectives and dynamic changes. Resilience and Sustainability Summer’s robustness in the face of occasional storms highlights the strength needed to sustain success and weather financial challenges. By drawing these parallels, we can create engaging and relatable narratives around finances, success, and wealth. How are you preparing for your financial summer? #FinancialGrowth #BusinessSuccess #WealthManagement #FinancialPlanning #Investment #Networking #Productivity #Sustainability #Innovation

We make B2B SaaS companies better at using data. We work with $10mm - $150mm revenue companies to transform their data analytics function into trusted leaders
A few words of caution for senior leaders now that summer is here. Employees might take it easy, but your business will not. Metrics still need to be tracked, goals still need to be hit, and questions still need to be answered. Your data and finance teams will be the ones doing this work, so they need to stay sharp. When others take it easy, things get sloppy... - Warning signs of underperforming metrics get missed - Decisions and changes to the business are made without enough data to back them up - Confusion around what the correct values of metrics are And these teams are the ones who suffer. They deal with some fire drills and late nights. Although these things happen year round, they're more deflating in the summer. By the time the fall arrives, they don't feel refreshed like they should. Or worse...they're thinking about quitting. So now that summer is here, check in with those teams. It's important to make sure they're feeling valued and supported.
