Loss of a segment of mandible (lower jaw) due to any disease (benign or malignant)leads to significant loss of function and cosmetic problems. It is always best reconstructed using a bone taken from the patient’s leg (fibula bone) using microvascular surgical techniques. #microvascularsurgery✌️ #mandiblerecontruction #jawreconstrution #reconface #premierhospital

𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗚𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗟𝗘 𝗧𝗬𝗣𝗘𝗦 Surgical needles come in various types, each designed for specific functions during medical procedures. A point type of surgical needle refers to the specific design of the needle tip used in surgical procedures. Different point types serve various purposes based on the tissue or organ being sutured. 🪡Tapered Point: - Function: Ideal for soft tissues like the liver or spleen. 🪡Cutting Edge Point: - Function: Has a triangular cutting edge, suitable for tough tissues like skin or fascia. 🪡Reverse Cutting Point: - Function: Similar to cutting edge but with the cutting edge on the opposite side, reducing tissue trauma. Often used in skin closures. 🪡Blunt Point: - Function: Rounded tip designed for delicate tissues, minimizing tissue damage. 🪡Tapered Cutting Point: - Function: Combines the benefits of a tapered point with a cutting edge, suitable for various tissues. 🪡Tapercut Point: - Function: Blends the characteristics of tapered and cutting points, making it versatile for different tissue types. The choice of needle point depends on factors such as tissue type, thickness, and the surgical procedure. Surgeons carefully select the appropriate needle to optimize healing, minimize tissue trauma, and ensure effective wound closure. Credit https://lnkd.in/gnG4qBRQ

Penile prostheses have revolutionized the management of erectile dysfunction; nevertheless, like any other medical device, they come with complications. Prosthesis erosion is a relatively common and catastrophic adverse event associated with these devices. While most guidelines recommend the prompt removal of eroded prostheses, re-implantation and close observation may be considered in patients who show no signs of sepsis, local infection, or necrosis during preoperative evaluations and surgical exploration. We’ve shared our experience with two cases in our latest publication ( https://lnkd.in/e7aa9yTF ) We invite you to check it out.

Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is a surgical procedure used to treat a blocked tear duct. The tear duct, also known as the nasolacrimal duct, is responsible for draining tears from the eyes into the nose. When the tear duct becomes obstructed or blocked, tears cannot drain properly, leading to excessive tearing and potential infections. During an endoscopic DCR, the surgeon uses an endoscope, which is a thin, flexible tube with a camera on one end, to access the blocked tear duct through the nasal passages. This approach is minimally invasive and avoids the need for external incisions, reducing scarring and promoting faster recovery. AJOG Expert Review in Labor: Uterine-sparing surgical procedures to control postpartum hemorrhage - A proposed algorithm of surgical technique to control postpartum hemorrhage refractory to medical treatment: The superscript letter a denotes this is only a proposal. The choice, in particular for the first uterine-sparing surgical procedure, between uterine artery ligation and uterine compression sutures depends mainly on the operator’s preference. The superscript letter b denotes uterine artery ligation or Tsirulnikov’s triple ligation or stepwise uterine devascularization. The superscript letter c denotes B-Lynch or Cho suturing techniques. https://ow.ly/shmc50PCNhT
