Concepts - Music licensing. Creating in licensing is trying to preview desires and trends. In "Stadium crowd cues" I imagined adverts and sport content appealing to the big mass, the crowd. I heard massive audiences shouting out that " singable " no word chorus wrapped in modern hybrid music. ( I´m trailerizing them! ) I try to be different in content creation and Innovation is a must. So, part of the creation is this, and hopefully it will attract music supervisors for such content. The concept will surely work, when, that remains to be seen. In the last 24 hours Riot Games announced significant cuts to their workforce, to "refocus on fewer, high-impact projects to move toward a more sustainable future". Some of this may be in part due to a re-balance after significant growth and investment during the pandemic, but there have also been a number of positive stories in recent months. 👨🎓 Monster Energy renewed its partnership with the British University Esports Championship (announcement and video courtesy of Sport Industry Group) 🚗 Kia Motors has continued to invest in a number of their long term partnerships, including League of Legends one of the world's top games, conversely published by Riot Games 🏎 McLaren Racing expanded its relationship with NEOM who became the Official Principal Partner of McLaren Shadow, the team’s sim racing division. NSE In our 'Economics of Sport Course', Ben Peppi from JMW Solicitors LLP talked about the new commercial trends in esports, and how the digital revolution was an opportunity to drive new revenue streams. The one cue from the games we are inspired by that I am taking very seriously is the music. I've been a musician in some form or another for many years, but never took an opportunity to play with a tracker or any kind of DAW. So it was an intimidating process learning the ins and outs of FL Studio which is our software of choice. In the original Ur-Quan Masters which are inspired by, a contest was held to accumulate the tracks for that game, and then from what I know of the process, tracks were chosen as they were appropriate and matched up with the different scenes of the game. These tracks varied greatly in style and genre. Even though I am just one guy doing all the music for the entire game (40 plus tracks) I am taking a similar approach. This particular track is inspired heavily by racing games from the 90's, specifically the work of the composers who worked on F-Zero, and Barry Leitch, who is still actively working in the industry most recently on the amazing Horizon Chase series which is a spiritual successor to the Top Gear games on the Super Nintendo. Top Gear has one of my favorite soundtracks. Barry shared some kind words with me about my efforts here which was pretty critical feedback - when you share this kind of thing and can be difficult to get an objective reaction, as most of the people you are sharing with will know you to some capacity early on in the process, and may just be being kind, or may not understand the point of reference you are working from. In my opinion it's a really bad idea to take praise at face value, and try to get opinions from people outside of your social circle if you are looking for any useful criticism or validation for what you are up too. https://lnkd.in/g3VyW5vA
