➡️Albariño International Day⬅️ Finally, time has arrived to celebrate one of my favourite white grapes: Albariño from Galicia, Spain. ‼️The grape is well known for Spanish wine lovers or to anyone considering ‘pulpo a la gallega’ a truly epicurean dish. It was certainly not well known in Poland when I first imported it in 2006. It was unknown and pricey vs other white wines. Back then, most consumers didn’t consider worth paying a premium for a bottle of white wine. Luckily the situation changed quickly and Albariño took its place as an outstanding wine for shellfish and sushi. If your favourite sushi restaurant is not offering Albariño by the glass, be suspicious. Either they never try it with sushi or worse they don’t understand the mathematics of the business (prefer to sell green tea/choya instead…no comments) 🧐Albariño is originally from Galicia and is grown under the appellation Rias Baixas. It produces single grape wines, and the name of the grape is clear on the label. The grape is also present in Portugal as Alvarinho.. It is most often used in the white blend of Vinho Verde. In fact the higher proportion of Alvarinho, the better the Vinho Verde (it will be on the label). Both names are coming from the world albo, meaning white in Latin. Although the grape is centuries old, its popularity rises since 1986 with the wine revolution following Spain’s accession to EU. 😁 It is not by change that the international Albariño day is on the 1st of August. Following their work-life balance idiosyncrasy, Spaniards are letting you know that vacations are taking place and you are welcome to call again in September. If you don’t believe that, try to arrange any business in Spain during August. The celebration of Albariño shouldn’t be confused with the beginning of the summer. For this Spaniards have the Verdejo International Day (9th June) topic of another article. ❓The reader might wonder, why to celebrate an international day for a local grape? The reason is that Albariño is being exported and planted in places like Argentina, Australia, USA and even Uruguay. The other, is to encourage consumers around the world to try it. What style of wine is an Albariño ? 👉It is a dry white wine with citrus peel, apricot with white flavours. Coming from a rainy cold weather, is not high in alcohol 11,5-12,5% enhancing its freshness. The vineyards are facing the sea, giving it an characteristic salty aftertaste minerality. I like to describe it as an aromatic wine like Viognier (peach, white flowers) but much lower in alcohol and refreshing (high acidity) and with more interesting minerality that Riesling (stone vs sea saltiness). 🐙🐟🐚It is a fantastic food wine (sushi, grilled/fried or cooked seafood, fish and shellfish). Avoid strong sauces (curry/spicy) which will dominate the wine. Is your Albariño waiting for your in the fridge already? Salud! 🍷 #onwine #albariño #winetasting #tasteiteasy #foodandwine #sushi #spanishwines

Okay, this morning I told myself, "You can do a LinkedIn post too!" 😊 I may not come from the wine industry, but as a French girl, my life isn't complete without a good glass of wine now and then. When I was invited to collaborate with VINORA, I was thrilled. Why? Because after almost 8 years in Singapore, I still find it hard to get good wine at a fair price. In France, it's so simple. I tell the shop my budget, and they give me great advice, sometimes even suggesting a cheaper wine that's perfect. Here in Singapore, it's not that simple. Often, recommendations are just about what's cheap or on discount, without considering my preferences. It’s usually just “red or white?”. How VINORA Stands Out At VINORA, we focus on bringing quality wines at reasonable prices. Take Château de REIGNAC for example – it’s a fantastic wine that offers great value. 🍇 Careful Selection: We personally visit vineyards, meet winemakers, and taste the wines to ensure high quality. 🌍 Exclusive Wines: Our wines, like Château de REIGNAC, are exclusive to Singapore, offering unique flavors you won’t find elsewhere. 🍷 Tasting Events: We host regular tasting events, so you can discover our wines and see the value for yourself. My conclusion : Good wine at a fair price shouldn’t be hard to find. At VINORA, we make it possible. Explore our selection and join our tasting events to experience it for yourself. Remember, this is my first LinkedIn post, so be kind! 😅

English white wines, are gaining popularity for their crispness and vibrant flavours. Expect to see more Chardonnays and Bacchus varietals dominating the shelves. These wines are the perfect accompaniment to a sunny day or a delightful meal. Furthermore, the trend of sustainability and organic practices will only continue to grow in importance. Consumers are increasingly conscious about the environmental impact of their choices, and English winemakers have taken notice. More and more vineyards are adopting sustainable and organic practices, ensuring that their wines are not only delicious but also environmentally friendly. This commitment to sustainability will be a defining characteristic of the English wine industry in 2024 and beyond. Wine tourism in England is set to soar. Reflections on My First Wine Tasting in Bilbao: Lessons Learned Organizing my first wine tasting in Bilbao was exciting but came with its share of challenges: 1. Finding Guests: It was tough to get people to come because I'm new here and not many speak Russian. Note to self: Use local networks and social media, team up with local businesses and expand to English speakers (My Spanish is still not perfect enough for me to host tastings in this language but I’m working on it) 2. Finding Wines: I had to scramble to find wines because the tasting was quite spontaneous. Tip? Plan in advance, order online and build relationships with local wine sellers. 3. Rare Wines: Getting rare rose txakoli was super hard even in Bilbao because it's made in small amounts and was off-season. Next time, I'll prepare better and plan ahead. 4. Money Matters: I didn't make much profit this time. Lesson? Double-check costs and pricing for future events. 5. Timing Troubles: I didn't realize it was a holiday weekend, so fewer people came. Remember to check local holidays next time. I’m still adjusting to local festivities and traditions. All in all, I think doing at least something is better than not doing it at all. We all should start somewhere. To fellow wine enthusiasts exploring new places, embrace challenges, learn from them, and keep pouring your passion into every event! 🥂 #WineTasting #LessonsLearned #BilbaoEvents

A great wine list is a necessary component to a great food & beverage program! Catalonia is a vibrant and diverse region in northeastern Spain, and is renowned for its wide array of distinctive wines, reflecting its varied terrain from coastal areas to rugged hills. The region is most famous for Cava, the sparkling wine produced using the traditional method, primarily in the Penedès area, which provides a refreshing and complex alternative to its French cousin, Champagne. Catalonia also excels in producing robust red wines, particularly from the Priorat and Montsant appellations, where old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena thrive on the unique llicorella (slate) soils, creating intensely flavored and mineral-rich wines. Additionally, the Empordà on the Costa Brava and the Terra Alta regions contribute with their expressive white wines made from varieties like Garnatxa Blanca and Macabeo. These Catalan wines, whether sparkling, red, or white, are increasingly gaining international acclaim for their quality and unique character, driven by a blend of traditional practices and innovative modern techniques. ➡ www.somm.site #wine #education #training #learning #growth #innovation #hospitality #tourism #hospitalityindustry #management #marketing #digitalmarketing
