What an amazing day ☺️ 3 AM alarm clock. 6 AM flight from NOLA to Newark. 11 AM (EST) team meeting to iterate on noirpress.org & portalx.space 2PM Juneteenth panel on Black (economic) Liberation. 5PM Black Yalie dinner. 6PM Dispensary visit. 8PM Train to NHV. Today was one of those days where you feel uber favored by Divinity and in perfect alignment with your purpose. So many close calls and moments when I thought the day could fall apart. But it just kept getting better. Shoutout to my team. Shoutout to my new friends from Ebony & Louise’s important event. I’m grateful to our hosts and all my co-panelists for all the things you taught us and all the ways you challenged me to sharpen my voice. I’m grateful for all of you who came to engage in some deep and radical conversation post-event. I’m grateful to Maxim Thorne for your constructive feedback. I want those I engaged with today to know: I don’t seek to minimize the level of terror that the white structure has exacted on our communities every time we have built power. I have agitated about that for as long as I can remember. But now, the only thing that excites me is immersing myself in the truth of our infinite collective power. The truth of our incredible capacity to overthrow systems of oppression with love, strategy and unrelenting precision. I do not believe that they are more powerful than us. I can never believe that. They’ve only been able to back us into these corners because of our lack of unity and awareness of our power. They know our power more than we do. And they fear it. Which is why they work so hard—with generations-long strategies—to suppress us. But we have overcome. The very fact that we continue to lead culture just by existing should show us that WE are THEIR North Star. Please, let us continue to have these conversations. Let us continue us continue to build bigger, dream wilder. We owe it to our Ancestors and to our descendants. PS: please send me pics! #15cents #Juneteenth #LiberationfromWithin

TGIF, everyone! Today is National Cliche Day. A cliche is defined as a phrase or opinion that is overused and betrays a lack of original thought. However, the reason the phrase becomes overused is usually because it is true and relevant. For instance, this quote by Henry Ford is a cliche, but it also brings up a good point: If you want different results, you have to try a different method. As we head into the weekend, ask yourself how you can tackle a challenge differently so that you will see different results. You might be surprised by how big a difference one small change can make! #foodforthought #cliche #communityaction #henryford #helpingpeoplechanginglives

Behind the curtain (TLDR). This was our process for the Richardson Sports video: - Client briefed us on the idea, Quality in Every Stitch v2 - We concept Hat Valley with the RS team, crafted up a loose storyline and interview questions and started preproduction: gear, locations, lodging, snacks, shot list, snacks, all the things. - Meanwhile we started putting together a playlist of vibe inspiration for the music creation, discussing with RS team - heaps of vibe alignment. Discussion of guitar tones, and musical eras and favorite artists and why it works. It’s the best. - Production in Eugene for 2 days: 4 interviews, b roll of many many locations, snacks and about 30 soda waters (just me) and some waffles. - Back to Portland where we then track the songs. Monday morning at 9 am and you’re tracking music professionally, you have a “this is my job now” moment and get back to work. Four 2 minute songs in 4 hours and then home with Tommy to mix. - Video editing and art / design prep along with photo selects and color grading are next. Lots of revisions, nothing that sexy in this phase but it’s also everything. F**k this up and you lose. - Edit rounds galore, client feedback. First one is always scary, because there’s always so much feedback. It’s the moment you realize how different the vision in your head is from the vision in their head - and then the process of aligning those visions or creating a better more singular vision (the goal, and outcome of this video - I think). - Final color graded video is delivered, along with multiple vertical and horizontal short cut “teaser” videos. We pride ourselves on the borderline obscene amount of content we deliver. We also hand over youtube thumbnail, selects and really whatever else is requested. - Delivery to the masses, along with the moment of complete exhilaration at finishing a big project. Also, the inevitable crash and panic of now what - until you look at your todo list and realize it will be fine. Credits: Tommy Hazerian: Music production, overall production and logistics Jeff Hammond: Videography and Lighting Benj Zeller: Art Direction Nick Arneson: Creative Direction, Music Production, Snacks If you've made it this far, let's hang out. P. BRIJLALL After a workplace accident, WSIB put me through hell and made my injuries twice as worse permanently then robbed me of my benefits just because of the colour of my skin. Since 1974, CHEO has been a pillar of the Ottawa community. Their team has grown remarkably since then, providing education and research and supporting more than 500,000 patients each year. Last week, I had the chance to celebrate these 50 years of service and thank the incredible staff for all their work.

To all my brave friends: When we speak English, our focus should be to speak clearly, not to get rid of our accent. Our accent itself is not a bad thing. Our accent represents our culture and heritage. Even more impressive, it’s a sign that we speak more than one language, so feel proud of it! Moreover, there are countless accents even among native English speakers. In fact, we all have an accent. The goal is to improve our communication so that our colleagues, customers, and friends always understand the important things we have to say. So stay positive and persistent! Practice makes perfect 👌
IT'S A SIGN OF BRAVERY!
