New EU rules on trans-European transport network will enter into force this week! They will strengthen the backbone of our mobility system by setting many targets, including: - a minimum speed for trains of 160km/h; - safe and secure parking areas every 150 km along the network; - an obligation to connect major airports with long-distance rail; - more rail freight to meet the current demand.

After 2017 the market prepared for Brexit (and anticipated port delays for accompanied ro-ro trucks and reduced opportunities for road ‘cabotage,’ etc) by switching cargo to unaccompanied ro-ro trailers and to shortsea containers and away from the Short Strait. As a result, accompanied truck volumes (of which the great majority to/from Europe are via the Short Strait) have fallen and can be expected to continue to fall. #brexit #roro #shortstrait #containershipping #trade #freight #ports https://lnkd.in/gJiq8bpQ
