CUTR’s Associate Director, Lisa Staes, presented to and facilitated discussion roundtables on transit worker assaults with approximately 180 transit workers at the Amalgamated Transit Union’s Legislative Conference on June 10, 2024. “I was honored to be given the opportunity to learn more about transit worker assaults directly from those who drive our industry – our frontline workers on whom verbal and non-verbal assaults occur too frequently. Your input on topics such as barriers, employee assistance programs, employee safety reporting, and training was invaluable. Thank you to ATU’s International President John A. Costa and members of the ATU leadership team for granting me access to these extraordinary, dedicated transit professionals.
