Shape the future of sustainable mobility policies: share your views with us! The overarching vision for rural communities emphasizes transport connections and resilient links between urban, peri-urban, and rural areas. Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) are a key tool in this pursuit, strategically catering to the mobility needs of people and businesses in cities and their surroundings. 🚗 However, there's a gap in our current approach. SUMPs tend to focus on urban environments, often sidelining rural mobility issues. To address this, we're calling on all stakeholders to join us in reshaping the narrative. As part of SMARTA-NET's forward-thinking research, we've launched a public consultation questionnaire. Our goal is to comprehensively understand the challenges and opportunities faced by rural regions. We're eager to hear your insights on transport planning in low-density areas and how we can integrate the unique needs of rural residents and visitors into sustainable urban transport strategies. 🏞️ This is an exceptional chance for civil society organizations, public authorities, and urban institutions to influence the development of future mobility plans. By participating, you contribute to a more inclusive approach that bridges urban-rural divides. 🌐Public consultation questionnaire link: http://bit.ly/45PEKSP Have questions or thoughts? Reach out to us at info@smarta-net.eu The results will feed into the infographic that the project is preparing to take stock of rural mobility challenges. You can check out the infographic with the preliminary findings here: https://lnkd.in/dSP8VtMd Let's collaborate in building a more connected and sustainable future for all! 🌍🚆 #SustainableMobility #RuralTransport

Interesting report on the cities that are really investing in reshaping urban mobility - particularly if you're interested in how cities are #moving (pardon the pun) away from fossil fuels to deliver better public #transportation. Would be interesting to see if it was possible to plug the #data for other #cities into the model...

Herald Ruijters, Director at the European Commission, DG MOVE, responsible for investments, innovative and sustainable transport, wrote an interesting opinion piece for REVOLVE on how cities act as catalysts for behavioural change in transportation and urban mobility as a whole and how the EU is helping cities to achieve their sustainable goals. "We aim at creating an enabling environment that encourages individuals to adopt sustainable and smart mobility options. Cities can, and do, involve citizens in innovative policies, organise awareness campaigns and can thereby influence citizens’ travel choices, promote active modes of transport, and reduce dependence on private vehicles. By prioritizing sustainable mobility, cities can significantly impact emissions reduction, air quality improvement, and overall liveability. This is being experimented throughout the world, in over 3000 cities, every year, in the Mobility Week." If you're traveling this holiday season, you'll likely be relying on urban mobility networks. Getting urban mobility right is critical to a city’s economy, sustainability, and quality of life. Our new Urban Mobility Readiness Index with the University of California, Berkeley ranks 65 major cities worldwide on their preparedness for mobility’s next chapter. In a new article in World Economic Forum, Dr. Andreas Nienhaus, Guillaume Thibault, and Alexandre Bayen introduce the index's 2023 edition, and explore the impact of urban mobility on a city's economy, sustainability, and quality of life. They explain why investing in the fundamentals - electrification, infrastructure, and mass transit - is critical in reducing emissions and preparing for a sustainable future > https://lnkd.in/ezF5sAxj #OWForum #UrbanMobility #SustainableMobility #PublicTransit

#Tallinn submitted a draft Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan with 3 main goals: 1️⃣ The distribution of modes of transport in the Tallinn region is balanced 2️⃣ Mobility #infrastructure is accessible and well-connected for all modes of transport. 3️⃣ The #environment safety. For the city, the mobility plan is an important conceptual pillar and a fundamental basis document that provides very clear guidelines for mobility-related goals by 2035. The Mobility Plan supports the long-term goal of achieving a climate-neutral vision by 2050. The draft can be viewed here: https://lnkd.in/dpMfTQ83 #future #gettingthingsdone
