Canal Corridor race report alert! Just a little over a month to go until I take on my AutismUp 1:44 Challenge, I just finished my first 100-mile race! This was a real test of whether I believed running 144 miles would really be feasible. It certainly was hard (I dealt with injury and inclement weather at various points), and it's surreal to be running for almost 29 hours. But finish it I did, and along with earning my first belt buckle (the traditional award for 100-mile races), I also qualified for the Western States 100-Mile Endurance Run for the second time! Like all of my ultramarathons, I don't do this alone, and without the support of my crew, and the volunteers along the course, this would be impossible (or at the very least, miserable). The best pacers are not unlike the best mentors: - They have experience in the endeavor you are trying to accomplish. - They encourage you to put forth your best performance (since they can't "mule" for you, you still have to carry the full load yourself). - They provide actionable feedback on your condition and the changing environment in a constructive way. - They know your personality and your tendencies, so they can prompt you in the way that is most likely to motivate you to achieve your goal. Another way to put it is there is no one size fits all, and everyone's experience is going to differ, even if you are all following the same trail. It's also important to recognize that you yourself are changing as the event is ongoing. Learning to be adaptable to not just what's going on around you but also within puts you in the best position to succeed. Click on the image below if you want to read more about how my race went!

RDs, what calendars do you put your races on? If you are in the tri-state area, there really is no great option, either they are outdated, scraped and could be filled with wrong info, or contained to a race club/timing company/registration website. We are trying to offer another option. SRS has a race calendar open to all races in the NY/NJ/CT/PA/MA Region, even if we don't time/manage them. We have been in the running community for more than 40 years and we love it here. We are grateful to be a part of this little corner of the world and want to give more options to the runners we serve, while fostering a sense of community among the many small town races that exist in our area. If your an RD come add your race to our calendar, and even get put on our RD mailing list so you know what we are up to https://lnkd.in/e7SQRs-8 If your a runner, check on it regularly and you can even join our mailing list so you never miss a thing.

What is a Backyard Ultra? A Backyard Ultra is a unique form of ultramarathon where runners must complete a 4.167-mile (6.706-kilometer) loop every hour until only one runner remains. This format is designed to test the limits of endurance, strategy, and mental toughness. Here's how it works: Hourly Loops: Participants start a new loop on the hour, every hour. The 4.167-mile distance ensures that 24 loops equal exactly 100 miles. Elimination: Runners who fail to complete the loop within the hour are eliminated. This continues until there is only one runner left, who must complete one final loop alone to be declared the winner. No Set Finish Time: The race has no predetermined end, as it continues until only one runner is left standing.

Have you ever gone out for a run and someone breezes past you effortlessly during the run? (This does not happen to me very much. Anyway, I digress.) You usually have two choices: - Try and keep up and struggle - Feel bad about yourself There is a secret option: - You realise that you have no idea how long the person has been running for, when they started that current run, how trained they are and when they are finishing the run. You carry on running your own race. So why would you go to the first two options by default. Anyway. Run your own race.

Fridays’ thought. Great pit stops win races, lousy pit stops lose races. What happens when the pit crew comes together determines the outcome of the race. Excited to get the new season rolling and get back on the start line! After unfortunate injuries from Redlands and the termination of the NCL, I am coming back to training, building exciting new partnerships, and looking toward Unbound for my comeback race. Tackling Unbound after less than ideal prep is no doubt very intimidating. This race will require mental flexibility and holding expectations loosely. However, my story of last season is inspiring me to continue showing up and toeing the line with zero expectations except to face a mental and physical challenge and give myself an opporuntity to surprise myself. While my current preparation is far from where I'd like it to be, this is a unique opporuntity to connect with the mass participants of these off road events who may not have the support or ability for perfect preparation or a perfect bike set up. It is an opportunity to tell a story that can inspire people who may doubt themselves that they can also show up to the challenge of these events despite perceived barriers. The professionalism of gravel is exciting and I recognize I am in that group of professionals, but I am also someone who has "run what they brung" in the past and embraced the underdog mentality of gravel (dare I say the spirit of gravel). I see gravel as a physical and mental challenge that now has a competitive side that fuels exciting performances and innovation. Unbound for me will be a challenge, one that may be too big, but I am committed to showing up because if that can inspire one person to tackle a challenge in their own lives than it is worth it.

More and more golf clubs are implementing simulators. Here, is a great example of how Trackman works with golf clubs to achieve their vision.
The process of installing a TrackMan Golf Simulator. Before: The initial phase before the integration of the TrackMan simulator. Design Vision: TrackMan's Design team craft a conceptual design, offering a glimpse into the potential transformation. After: The grand reveal features a state-of-the-art TrackMan simulator positioned next to the pro shop, complete with a delighted golf professional ready to welcome members and guests. A TrackMan simulator not only enriches the club's offerings but also introduces a specialised area for coaching and fitting, an invaluable addition especially considering the absence of a driving range at this facility. #GolfClubInnovation #TrackManSimulators #DesignTransformation #MemberServicesEnhancement #TrackManGolf #TrackMan Peter Tabor Scott Jolly Brook Salmon Steve Hinds
