Sometimes the race feels endless. One challenge, after another. One fire after another with no finish line, in site. But the wins don’t always come at the finish line. They often come from the lessons experienced along the way. The realization of how strong you are. How determined you are and just when you want to throw in the towel….. breakthrough comes. Just when you think you’ve hit your breaking point think about how unbreakable you are….push through. Just when you think you’ve gone as far as you can go, go the extra mile. Remember, you’re not pursuing a finish line, but experiences…..Lessons, lessons to learn, to learn and then to giveaway. Keep running the race you’ve been called to run. “You don’t have to learn everything…” If only I would have realized that I was getting the most important piece of learning right from the start. I probably didn’t receive that advice well. “… There’s so much to learn, so just pick an area that interests you and lean in.” What wonderful advice I received right away from Alicia Jenkins when I joined her football (soccer) team. I had been given the gift of going into an unfamiliar area. And soon after that conversation with Alicia I would begin to see the wisdom in what she had given me. Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by the quantity of things to learn. When you have a leader who reminds you that it is not only normal to not know it all, it is exactly where you should be. Those words gave me the confidence to lean in, and also the ability to give myself grace. I still channel those words every time I start somewhere new - We don’t need to know it all, we just need to get curious and let that be my guide. That helps us be comfortable in the uncomfortable and it helps our curiosity shine. Alicia, I’d end up learning so much from you…. The most important part being that it’s never about learning everything. I appreciate you, and I know so many others do as well. #ThankfulThursday #Learning #Curiosity #Leadership
