Taking risks, pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and being ok with learning from a fail to create longer term wins! My smallest Pilon did exactly that at the weekend! Hungry to come off the lead rein and enter the Horse show on his own without the comfort of me being by his side and attached to a lead rope! Situational leadership came into my mind balancing confidence and competence. Maybe both not being exactly where we needed them to be however "giving" it a go and trying made me so proud! Some highs and lows and to be completely transparent some tears! This little man WINS a lot and always comes home with a trophy or two! But life is not like that and when you push yourself it can sometimes feel like you are not winning but actually if you think more deeply about it you have won! You have gained a new experience, you have learned a new lesson and you are more experienced today than you was yesterday! And lastly it is ok to cry if you feel sad and own those emotions! After some time I asked him what is the one thing you are proud of today and he said "that I gave it a go and did not back out". My challenge to you this week is what will you NOT back out of! What lesson will you learn and what long term wins are you preparing for. #learning #bravery #newthings

Sometimes the race feels endless. One challenge, after another. One fire after another with no finish line, in site. But the wins don’t always come at the finish line. They often come from the lessons experienced along the way. The realization of how strong you are. How determined you are and just when you want to throw in the towel….. breakthrough comes. Just when you think you’ve hit your breaking point think about how unbreakable you are….push through. Just when you think you’ve gone as far as you can go, go the extra mile. Remember, you’re not pursuing a finish line, but experiences…..Lessons, lessons to learn, to learn and then to giveaway. Keep running the race you’ve been called to run. And learn the lessons you’ve been given the opportunity to learn! Then share them. (Shared) #nevergiveup #neverstoptherace #pushthrough #learninganddevelopment #mentoring #coaching

“You don’t have to learn everything…” If only I would have realized that I was getting the most important piece of learning right from the start. I probably didn’t receive that advice well. “… There’s so much to learn, so just pick an area that interests you and lean in.” What wonderful advice I received right away from Alicia Jenkins when I joined her football (soccer) team. I had been given the gift of going into an unfamiliar area. And soon after that conversation with Alicia I would begin to see the wisdom in what she had given me. Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by the quantity of things to learn. When you have a leader who reminds you that it is not only normal to not know it all, it is exactly where you should be. Those words gave me the confidence to lean in, and also the ability to give myself grace. I still channel those words every time I start somewhere new - We don’t need to know it all, we just need to get curious and let that be my guide. That helps us be comfortable in the uncomfortable and it helps our curiosity shine. Alicia, I’d end up learning so much from you…. The most important part being that it’s never about learning everything. I appreciate you, and I know so many others do as well. #ThankfulThursday #Learning #Curiosity #Leadership

Quick mentoring tip - reward yourself when you hit milestones. The road to greatness is long and fraught with danger. You've got to celebrate the wins when you can. After celebrating, get right back to it.

We are all different and have our own unique things/activities that help us de-stress. What is yours? A real power of 10 Lessons Learned is that we can identify a #lessonslearned that is universal #wisdom, that applies to everyone, everywhere, every time. The profound impact of such powerful #lessonslearned lies far beyond the number of times it has been shared by our guests, or how seemingly sensible it sounds to us. When it comes to de-stressing, one such insightful lesson was shared again recently by Per Ohstrom and Siebe Van Der Zee. Lesson 9: Into the woods - the power of peace, quiet and man’s best friend. Take a listen here, we are sure you will nod in agreement. #wellbeing #selfcare #balancedthinking #leadership #careeradvice

In a recent mentoring chat with a world-class sailing coach, he shared an insightful perspective: "Calm waters never produced a great sailor." Count the storms in your life and you will find the most meaningful times of growth. Some organisations prioritise predicting and preventing all storms, while others focus on building the skills and empowerment to sail through any challenge. These are the championship-capable systems that thrive in adversity and uncertainty and embody an unbreakable game spirit. Is your system fixated on 'predict every-thing' or 'perform every-where'? #Empowerment #GrowthMindset #LeadershipDevelopment I run masterclasses, mentoring and keynotes to simplify sustained competitive advantage. It is closer than you think!
