WE ARE A TEAM! Henry Ford once said, "Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success." This quote makes a lot of sense to me for the past 2 months. I was on hiatus from LinkedIn, trying to spend all my energy on supporting my managers. "Jameela, we need to make the launches happen". My country manager's word is still playing in my mind, even when I'm sleeping. I woke up one day from my sleep and decided, I'm going to do something I have not done effectively before. I need to start integrating everyone's strength towards the department goal. I'm managing a department of managers. Manager BD - He is approaching the 60s. He did not run around like the young people but his strength is that all the procedures, rules, regulations and best practices knowledge at his finger tip. He knows every Adient Malaysia customer's development standard. I assigned him to Adient Malaysia top priority program in MY24 as that program is related to numbers of prominent customers. Manager EF - He is approaching the 50s. He prefers to keep a peaceful relationship with everyone. No heated argument. He did not understand abstract instruction but he is willing to give 100% effort consistently. I assigned him to a program with a young and energetic team. The team keeps him on speed, chases him and makes him exposed to layers of issues that need to be managed. Manager EFA - I hired him with only 1 interview and that interview was done by Manager BD. He cannot process 6-7 instructions at one time and requires his space to complete each task. However, he has good interactions with the customer and is willing to spend time on new applications. He was assigned to manage 8 launches that kept him busy with all application updates and socializing with customers. I can't spend time nagging him because it is not easy to find him 🤣 Manager MRH - He was hired from 70 resumes and recommended from top management. He migrated with his family to Malaysia when he accepted this job offer. He is very polite, always very calm and neat at his work. The only thing I worried about him is he kept working and sometimes forgot about taking enough rest. He has 8 launches under him and soon will become 12. I assigned him the most difficult program that needs daily updates to be sent with critical details. The motivation for him is I agreed to give him a slightly longer break once the tasks completed. Between 4 of them, anytime one is too busy and needs assistance, the rest will be deployed to support. I kept myself busy clearing all the obstacles that made them dysfunctional, reviewing their work and reminding them of the do's and do not's. It is not easy to manage a department but consider it done when everyone is highly effective. As an employee, it is crucial to understand that gaining the trust of your supervisor is essential before being given additional responsibilities. This means executing your primary function flawlessly according to the instructions given to you.   At times, we may feel frustrated when we are not allowed to implement our innovative ideas or suggestions. However, it could be because we have not yet earned our supervisor's trust. Therefore, it is crucial to strive to earn their trust by delivering our primary mandate to the best of our ability.   When the opportunity presents itself, we should ensure that we deliver the task to the best of our ability to show that we can be trusted with more significant responsibilities.   #asanemployeegh

In May 2024, we had the pleasure of conducting impactful teambuilding sessions for Integra Marine & Freight Services N.V. These sessions were carefully designed to align with the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values, ensuring a cohesive and motivated team environment.    𝗜𝗰𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀: We began with engaging icebreaker activities that allowed team members to relax and open up. These activities set the stage for open communication and active participation throughout the sessions. 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: Interactive games and collaborative tasks were organized to strengthen bonds among team members. These activities emphasized teamwork, mutual support, and the collective achievement of goals. 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀: We conducted several activities specifically designed to help team members understand Integra Marine's Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Through these exercises, participants were able to internalize these guiding principles and see their relevance in daily operations. These teambuilding sessions were a significant step in enhancing the Integra Marine team's dynamics. By focusing on icebreakers, team bonding, and the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values, we laid down a strong foundation for better collaboration and trust on the work floor. Today marks the end of an adventure of almost 13 years at SGS. Today I would like to express my #GRATTITUDE to all those who have accompanied me in this chapter: my colleagues all over the World, my managers who have always supported me, customers and partners who have always trusted me unconditionally. #THANKYOU to all of you. Despite of a busy week settling work in office, today i had the opportunity to give opening remarks for our focus group session with Primary Education Employers. It’s one of our initiative for registered employers by HRD Corp Central Region to discuss and foster collaborative enviroment with the industry. By noon, I managed to have a not so short and very informative discussion (and luncheon session) with Juita, Dr Niza and Kak Sakinah from Petronas Group Team. Besides talking about HRD Corp matters, it is always a fruitful discussion with them as i can get a lot of industry updates from everyone. No picture, just sharing my appreciation to the stakeholders, especially to my team for organising and arranging today’s session, also the past and future sessions. I will definitely do more engagements, to always be on the move for all the regions as part of my new role with and for HRD Corp. On top of that, please be informed that HRD Corp is now opening submission for HRD Corp Awards 2023, our two decades of recognition for the stakeholders that contribute significantly in Human Capital Development Agenda. #TBT it back to a job that marked a turning point in my career 🙌✨. Stumbling upon these old photos brought by my mother has taken me on a trip down memory lane. This snapshot right here is especially sweet – it's from my early days in marketing working with Carnival Cruise Lines. After facing a significant professional disappointment, where reality fell short of expectations, I left a role I held for merely 30 probation days ( a story for another day). The decision was not easy, but I chose to take a leap of faith and applied to an unknown company in the European market at the time - Carnival Cruise Lines. I remember flying out to Miami for two weeks of training, with a mix of skepticism and curiosity about the company I had never heard of before. But the moment I walked through the gates of Carnival Corporation headquarters, my doubts were washed away by the scale of the opportunity before me. I was welcomed into a sea of knowledge and expertise, learning from incredible professionals and growing in ways I had not imagined. My experience with Carnival opened doors to my career in the USA and later to a global stage. This role taught me a powerful lesson – taking risks is essential to move forward, and the fear of the unknown shouldn't hold you back from potential greatness.
