questions for council meeting FromCathryn Watters, RN Tomatthew.hayday@nmc-uk.org Reply-Tosupport@nmcwatch.org.uk DateToday 22:35 Message 1 of 10234 < > Dear Mathew Please put the following questions forward: The statements published by the NMC in response to the Culture Review don’t follow the reflective framework that would be expected of a nurse, midwife or nursing associate if serious concerns had been raised about their practise. To reassure the public and the professionals on the NMC register that there isn’t a high risk of repetition, can David Warren, Helen Herniman, Lesley Maslen and Alice Hilkin all answer before Council today: 1. Why did they fail to implement the recommendations from previous reviews? 2. Why should they be believed that it will be different this time? Also - why was the meeting changed from in person to online - surely with recent events it should have remained in person? Best wishes -- Cathryn Watters Founder & Director NMCWatch: registrant care CIC www.nmcwatch.org.uk @_nmcwatch Company number: 12383189

Nurses’ critical role in health care is undisputed as they provide compassionate care and support to patients. Patients and families spend ample time with nurses, allowing for a genuine, trusting relationship to be formed. According to Gallup’s annual Honesty & Ethics poll of 23 professions across the United States, nursing remains the most trusted profession. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that nurses play an important role in philanthropy. The compassionate care they provide undoubtedly sparks gratitude in patients and families, unleashing their desire to express thanks by sharing stories and even making a gift. When nurses grasp their role in receiving patient gratitude and assisting patients in expressing it meaningfully, they become one of philanthropy’s most valuable allies for transformative impact. Check out the latest piece from Accordant's Heather Wiley Starankovic, CFRE, CAP, and Erin M. Stitzel, FAHP, on how to partner with nurses to create transformative impact for your philanthropy program: https://ow.ly/R0iT50RB8z7 #healthcare #philanthropy #nationalnursesweek #nursesmakethedifference

Today I attended the Senate Executive Committe at Legislative Hall, along with nurses and many other caregivers, asking our Senators to vote NO to HB350. This bill would significantly impact the quality care non-profit hospitals in DE provide by requiring them to cut $360M from their budgets. This would negatively start impacting our communities almost immediately. At the end of this session public speakers were to have 90 seconds to share their thoughts on this drastic and devastating bill. Their time was cut to one minute! In that valuable minute the message from several clinical leaders, nurses, physicians and others was clear (and unfortunately extremely consise): - We agree healthcare costs are high. - "Collaborate" with us on reducing costs while not putting hospitals in a position where they are forced to eliminate services to our communities. - Or in a position where hospitals must cut innovative technologies that not only provide state-of-the-art care to patients but also attract top talent providers and nurses. https://lnkd.in/gDrc9Bir https://lnkd.in/gM-7DGZK

The American Nurses Foundation released the results of a groundbreaking new study “Philanthropic Support for the Nursing Profession,”, which examines funding priorities in the nursing profession and the importance of investing in nurse leadership, the impact of diversity in nursing and the need to ensure nurses properly benefit from health care funding. Read the study here: https://lnkd.in/e5uGrxrA Nurses receive only a penny of every dollar donated to health care, although they are the largest group of healthcare professionals in the U.S. Between 2015 – 2022, though private donations to health care were substantial, totaling $333.3 billion dollars, nurses received only 1% of these contributions. NPWH engages in a broad program of activities, including scholarships for student membership and attendance to the annual NPWH Women’s Healthcare conference; research to support the WHNP professional and women’s healthcare; and granting of scholarships to WHNPs to support special projects. This year’s National Nurses Week theme, “Nurses Make the Difference,” comes as no surprise, considering Gallup has ranked nurses as the most honest and ethical professionals for the 21st consecutive year. Nurses’ unwavering dedication to providing exceptional patient-centered care, supporting family members and serving their communities underscores this well-deserved and prestigious title. However, amidst the enduring challenges of COVID-19 and the lingering high levels of stress and burnout, it’s crucial to reflect on how we can support and sustain these caregivers, ensuring that trust in their vital role remains steadfast. As your organization prepares for the upcoming Nurses Week (May 6-12), consider how your activities can be enhanced beyond merely one week of celebrations. Design activities that prioritize well-being, drawing from research and evidence-based practices in gratitude, neuroscience and psychology. Focus on cultivating the mindset, actions and behaviors that promote holistic health for nurses—addressing physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social well-being. These activities should engage nurses in a journey of self-reflection, continuous learning and personal growth. Read more from Accordant's Linda Roszak Burton in her new piece on prioritizing well-being for nurses this year: https://ow.ly/4aiE50RvyXp #healthcare #philanthropy #nationalnursesweek #wellbeing

Supporting nurses = saving lives. It’s that simple. The average nurse will see between 8-10k patients per year. But if we lose our Lowcountry nurses, imagine how many patients won’t be cared for – including you or your loved ones. Together, we can give them a reason to stay: a fund that provides them with $12,000 (BSN) or $6,000 (ADN) over a 2-year period. The South Carolina Nurse Retention Initiative won’t only help them financially, but it will show our appreciation for their care and dedication, too. Become a “Friend of the SCNRI” when you give today: https://loom.ly/9MVUP4Y Remember, all donations are tax-deductible! #nurse #healthcare #southcarolina #lowcountry
