The Wauwatosa East High School Art Department is excited to share that student Isabelle Erickson has been recognized as a Scholastic Art Awards National Silver Medalist! She was awarded for her piece, "Dear Isabelle." Her hand-made mixed-media book beautifully captures the stories and memories of her great-grandmother's incredible life. Out of more than 340,000 submissions this year, fewer than 2,500 received a national medal, placing Isabelle in the top 8% of all submissions. She now joins the ranks of renowned writers and artists like Stephen King and Andy Warhol, who also received this prestigious recognition as teens. Congratulations, Isabelle! 🌟🎨

The Wauwatosa West High School Art Department is thrilled to announce that Lauren Laserstein has been awarded two National Silver Medals in the Scholastic Art Awards! Lauren has been honored for her sculptures, “Dude, I’m Drained,” and “Bottled Up” (pictured). Recently, Lauren Laserstein and her mother, Tosa West teacher Nancy Laserstein, had the honor of visiting Congresswoman Gwen Moore and attending the ceremony for the 2024 Congressional Art Competition winners. With less than 1% of all submissions receiving national recognition, this is an extraordinary achievement. Lauren had an incredible senior year, capped off with a full tuition offer to the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art. Congratulations, Lauren! 🌟🎨
