Our 2023 annual report is out! ☺️📈 The report highlights the impact of both Toronto Arts Council and Toronto Arts Foundation and reflects our shared goal to enhance the quality of life in Toronto through the arts. The arts inspire, engage, connect, heal, and much more. TAC’s Black Arts Projects Program supports individual artists, artist collectives of 2 or more Black artists, and incorporated non-profit Toronto Black arts organizations. This multidisciplinary program embraces diverse art practices, including new and culturally relevant art forms, as well as multi/interdisciplinary arts projects. Applicants can apply for projects engaging one or multiple arts disciplines. Additional Resources for Grant Recipients: • Mentorship: Connect with artists to develop skill sets and enhance your art practice. • Arts Career Development: Drop-in workshops to grow and establish your art practice. • Black Futures Studios Co-Creation Lab: Access a multidisciplinary co-creation lab to collaborate and exchange ideas. As a community-led organization, it was important to launch our 50th anniversary in a public, celebratory way, giving an opportunity for the public to interact with art and our staff. Here, we're highlighting the community activations that happened throughout Luminato in the Square during our Community Celebration: Picnic table painting with Philip Cote and Monica Wickeler, tote bag screen-printing with Rachael Dodgson, a Believe in Art chalkboard and button-making with TAC staff. Seeing old friends, meeting new ones and witnessing the power of the arts to bring people together and inspire joy was definitely a highlight for us with this event. Established in 1974, Toronto Arts Council was created to give the City a role in enhancing the quality of life in Toronto through the arts. 50 years later, with over $420M invested to bolster creativity, we're launching a ‘Believe in Art’ campaign to highlight the significance of art to people’s lives and to a caring, vibrant city. Beginning next week until the end of the year, we're spotlighting just some of the people and organizations that have shaped Toronto through the arts, as well as those who are working hard to build a stronger tomorrow, by connecting us together today. On our 50th anniversary, Toronto Arts Council is proud to say 'We Believe in Art.'
