I’m currently planning our bring your kids (and cared for) to work day and have plans to host the teams children for a day during the summer holidays. A: I love the people I work with and the enormous amount of autonomy I’m granted. I know my boss has my back 100% which allows me to do my job with confidence. I work with a group of talented, caring and supportive individuals, who come from all walks of life and have varying degrees of experience - I have learned so much from all of them. Q: What is your favourite thing to do on the weekends? A: SLEEP!!! I’m kind of joking. If the weather is bad, I love to curl up on the couch and binge watch my favorite TV shows/movie series and/or read a good book. If the weather is nice and the sun is out, I need to be outside. I’m either hiking, camping, playing beach volleyball/softball or just straight up suntanning. Q: What career advice would you give to your younger self? A: Try to work and surround yourself with people whose values align with your own. Gain as much experience and absorb as much information as you can from every job. Street knowledge is just as important as book knowledge and can’t be taught in a classroom – it only comes with experience. Also, success isn’t just measured by a salary and a title; it’s measured by who you are as a person and how you treat others. Never forget who you are, where you came from and the strength it took to get where you’re at. Q: What is a recent book or movie you would recommend? A: Everything Everywhere All at Once – it’s not recently released but it’s a movie that I would highly recommend. Tip Tuesday! It's coming! What? Holiday work parties. You may hate them but don't ditch them. Holiday workplace get togethers are perfect opportunities to interact with your upper management in a more casual setting. Channel your best Girl Scout and be prepared with some homework on your management team What are they interested in besides work? Take the initiative and ask them some questions about these interests. Plus, be ready to tell them about some of your interests outside of work and do a smart tie in to how that relates to a work strength. For example, perhaps you volunteer at a animal resue/adoption agency. Do you work to sell the attributes of your dogs or cats to prospective families? Thank you for all that you do! 👏👏 What do you like most about working at Stone Gardens? 👉 The sense of community at Stone Gardens is like none other. Walking down the hallway, you always receive a friendly hello, whether it’s from a resident or a staff member. Nowadays, that can be hard to find out there in the world. What motto do you live by? 👉 Working full-time and being a full-time mom has led me to adopt several mottos in life. I guess it depends on the day, but some of my favorites include: - Happiness is a choice - What you do has far greater impact than what you say - Tomorrow is another day - When life gives you lemons, make lemonade…or mix em’ in your drink Tell us about yourself. 👉 I have been a part of the Menorah Park family for almost 9 years now, and it’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed. I chose to continue my Menorah Park journey by joining the Stone Gardens family as the Administrator roughly two years ago. Prior to Stone Gardens, I was the Administrator at R.H. Myers Apartments for close to seven years. Menorah Park has played such a significant part in my career and in the development of myself as a person. When I don’t have on my Administrator hat, you’ll find me enjoying time with my husband, daughter, and our dog. I enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time at the zoo, trying to make my brown thumb turn green, and listening to a good book. "What exactly do you do?" -- my mom. Since starting Discover Outdoors last October I have had the privilege of building strategy to increase student retention at NDSU, facilitate art installations along the river in Moorhead to support the city's placemaking efforts, grow the Fargo-Moorhead skateboarding community, and more. But, how does it all fit together? What exactly do I do? Enter Annie Wood at Tellwell Story Co.! Although words have been my profession for many years, I couldn't find a succinct way to explain what Discover Outdoors does for communities. I worked with Annie, a certified Business Made Simple coach and she helped me not only describe what I do, but also helped me discover different potential revenue streams and business models. (Not to mention it was a hoot to work with such a fun person.) I am so thankful for our time together and feel like I have a solid plan moving forward. Seriously, schedule a time with her. So, what exactly is it I do? Discover Outdoors builds social infrastructure to strengthen communities through stronger human connections. (Ideally, outside. 😊 ) If you know of a company, university, city, or organization who believes that stronger human connections will help them reach their goals, let me know. I love this work. I finally feel like every single job -- from restaurant work, to nonprofits, to tech startups, to event planning -- has led me to this point and I am having a freaking blast. There you go, Mom. This is exactly the type of systems that ruin everything around us!!! There are people who spend thousands each year to have quality education on specifics of job responsibilities only to work under such people. All because an office could not get hold of a certain qualified person for the position from within the organization. They then use the "push-up" strategy which the second-highest gets the post and so forth down the line till the "no-qualification" person gets to have an office carrier - thanks to the ones before her for teaching her the same old technique which in most cases, is the root cause of no improvement and forced resignations. We all have witnessed receptionists with no or less qualifications moving into the main administrative structure and weakening the systems. Everything in that system will be passed-on and no real change and advancements can be achieved. I am a tradesperson with licences and so many trainings and experiences and it is horrifying to see people like this one to make it to a position to dictate systems that directly affect the real hat-wok-lain. You ask them to change something that is not working right and their answer will always remain the same; "The Door Is Open" So the big question here now is; WHY IS THIS A GOOD NEWS? For a country with horrifying economic and political setbacks; this is one of the terrifying news for a generation whom have had enough of garbage flowing through PNG systems!!! PERIOD!!!
