Medium was month over month cash balance positive in May. That's the first time our bank account has ever gone up without Ev's bank account going down. (Ev Williams was the primary investor and participated in every round) Mostly this was subscription growth but also some cost savings. We pay writers more than we did a year ago. We pay AWS and Snowflake less. Counterintuitively, one of the engineers responsible for cutting our Snowflake bill is also a bullish Snowflake shareholder.
Tony Stubblebine it's great to know my Friends contribution made all the difference. (Joking for context.) I'm a better human being a writer on Medium Thanks for leading the charge.
Great news Tony. Keep growing!
Was that longer than you expected Tony Stubblebine? Medium's 12 years in now... . All the fictional VC pitch models I've seen/been a part of seem to always get to break even in less than 12 years.
My account was suspended on no grounds. I didn’t even receive written explanation why. Tony Stubblebine
Inspiring! I interviewed for a position and was highly impressed. I came close. Last round cleared. But extrernal factors took over. Really inspiring management since you took over. Congratulations
Tony Stubblebine Im glad to see you are doing well and leading a medium to success through positive cash flow. Out of curiosity, What are you using snowflake for?
I have started using medium as a way to combate my mental health struggles. I have closed all my typical social media accounts (Facebook / insta and so on) I have found the community on medium much less toxic and so friendly. I can write and grow in my journey and share lessons of growth for others to maybe learn from. I also use all my own photography and tie it all into my writing and this has been a HUGE help in my recovery process I am not sure why I am telling you all this, but my hope is you see it and know that your team and product are making a difference in my life in a very unexpected and positive way.
Mad props for managing to make money on web content these days, it’s bloody hard to do.
