CEOs often have a unique vantage point within the company—we get a little taste of every department, and we also have a better vantage point when it comes to seeing how departments interact with one another. From my experience, I've noticed that this can be a bit of a struggle! Each department is so focused on what they have to do and accomplish, that it can lead to less collaboration and communication between these departments. I like the tips that are shared in this piece: 💠 Extend executive alignment practices down to tactical levels. Broader awareness of the health of critical relationships will enable leaders to assess where collaboration is dragging. 💠 Develop employee strategic and interpersonal skills. These skills help teams navigate tricky group dynamics, grasp how different pieces of a project fit together, and speak a common language. 💠 Look for collaboration drag within functions or teams. July marks Social Wellness Month, a time to reflect on the profound impact that our social connections have on our overall health and well-being. In senior care, we often focus on physical health and safety, but social wellness is equally important. Meaningful social interactions can enhance mental health, reduce the risk of cognitive decline, and improve the overall quality of life for seniors. That's why I'm a believer in the power of community engagement. Organizing community activities and encouraging seniors to participate in these activities can help them stay connected and feel valued. Whether it's through local clubs, volunteer opportunities, or group classes, fostering a sense of community can make a significant difference. Not to mention, it takes some of the weight off of seniors' caregivers, often their children, who may be the only people providing socialization to their loved ones. #SocialWellnessMonth

Technology can play a helpful role in the senior care space. After all, healthcare is often streamlined and made easier to navigate with certain tech. But it is important to note that tech can be slow-moving in the senior care industry because many seniors struggle with new tech. "The need to assist long-term care providers with technology is important, as the sector often is slow to adopt new technologies, and sometimes abandons certain services or software altogether," writes Aaron Dorman. It's a shame because technology can be a big help in this sector. We just need to make sure that developers are keeping seniors in mind when designing the tech and are doing everything they can to make it accessible for both caretakers and seniors themselves. #SeniorCare #Healthcare #SeniorTech

Happy 4th of July, everyone. As we celebrate today, I find myself reflecting on the profound meaning of this day. Having served both in the military and law enforcement, I've seen firsthand the sacrifices made to preserve the freedoms we cherish. On this Independence Day, I encourage everyone to take a moment to remember the sacrifices made by our service members. Let's celebrate the freedoms we enjoy and recommit ourselves to building a nation that lives up to its ideals of equality, justice, and freedom for all. June is Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month—a time to highlight the importance of brain health and support those affected by Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is more than just memory loss; it affects thinking, behavior, and the ability to perform everyday tasks. The journey can be challenging, but with the right support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected. One way that we can help support those struggling with Alzheimer's is by providing support to their caregivers. In many instances, the caregivers of those with Alzheimer's are their children... and this can be a heavy load to carry. Providing resources for family members caring for someone with Alzheimer's can take a huge weight off their shoulders. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of people age 65 and older in the United States has grown from 35 million in 2000 to approximately 55 million in 2020. And that number is only projected to increase over the next few years. With so many seniors wanting to age in place, it's important that there is technology out there meant to make aging in place easier for seniors and for their children or loved ones who often have a hand in taking care of them during this stage of life. What matters most is that this technology is easy to set up, easy to use, and accessible. Many seniors struggle to keep up with fast-paced tech shifts, so it's important to ensure that technology isn't overly confusing or difficult to use. Tech developers should make sure they're incorporating the feedback of seniors during the development process—this can help illuminate any potential accessibility blind spots developers might have. #AgingInPlace #SeniorCare #AgeTech
