42.9% of Australians have experienced mental health issues in their life (ABS, 2022). 1 in 5 Australians have experienced mental health issues in the last 12mths (this almost doubles for young people aged 16-24) (ABS, 2022). Mental health has impacted me personally and many of those close to me. To show my support I’m completing 3,249 push-ups this month as part of The Push-Up Challenge to push for better mental health in Australia. This number represents the 3,249 people who died by suicide in Australia in 2022 (the most recent available data). I'm taking on the Challenge because I want to do something about this number, and I'm hoping you can help by donating to my fundraising page: https://lnkd.in/gYXmPU7a Funds raised will go to headspace National to support much-needed mental health services and initiatives in Australia. Any donation, big or small, is really appreciated! #SupportHeadspace #MentalHealthMatters #DonateForMentalHealth #YouthMentalHealth #BreakTheStigma #InvestInMentalHealth #HeadspaceHeroes #MentalWellbeing #MindfulGiving #MentalHealthAwareness

If it is on your heart to donate to a worthy cause please consider suicide prevention. I am participating in the Construction Hike for Hope in Atlanta on May 5th. The AFSP is working to engage the construction industry on the importance of mental health. Per the CDC's data on suicide risk within occupational groups, the construction and extraction industries were found to have the highest rate of suicide in the United States. Stress leads to burnout, burnout can lead to depression and depression can lead to suicide. Just trying to do what I can to raise awareness and hopefully stop the cycle.

Each year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem. And many are not receiving the help they need and deserve. #nomindleftbehind is a campaign extremely close to my heart. For Mental Heath Awareness Week, Mind have launched the campaign to raise awareness and vital funds for a future where everyone can get quality mental health care when they need it. Those close to me will know parts of my story and how in the past 2 years someone very close to me has suffered from severe mental health issues. I’ve witnessed the extreme demand the NHS mental health services are under and the effect that has not only the person who has been diagnosed but also their families and friends. The help is there, but it can be limited and it might not be the right help or for long enough. Sadly, our NHS is overwhelmed and those struggling need this support. Charities such as Mind are crucial to supporting those in need, at the time they need it most. Much of the work they do is funded by amazing individuals raising money and championing this vital cause. If you can support this cause in any way, Mind’s campaign link is in the comments 💙 If you’re struggling, please know you’re not alone. There is support available. And, if you’re not struggling right now, someone close to you might be. A text or phone call can make a world of difference.

A Tale of Numbers and Neighbours and Family - and our Mission! Imagine walking down your busy high street. People buzzing around, each immersed in their own thoughts, each with their own story. Now, let these numbers sink in: 1 in 4. That's the lady at the bus stop, the postie on his morning round, the barista who poured your coffee this morning. They're not just faceless numbers; they're our friends, colleagues, neighbours and even family. Every year, one in four people on your street will experience some kind of mental health problem. Ramp that up to 1 in 6, and we're talking about the very heartbeat of our community. That's how many people, in any given week, report experiencing common mental health issues like anxiety or depression. That could be the person next to you at work, your hairdresser, the young student you pass in the library or even your immediate family. The weight of these statistics isn't just in their magnitude but in their immediacy. Mental health concerns are not distant problems reserved for a few; they're present here, now, in all of our communities. This weekend, as part of TPS360 - Total Protective Solutions 360's ongoing commitment, myself, Mark, Darren, Vaughan, Angela and Helen are taking part in Mental Health UK 20k #Birmingham GLOW Walk to raise much-needed funds that will go directly towards supporting those struggling with mental health. Every statistic tells a story, not of numbers, but of people. But here's where you come in. By supporting our cause, you're not just donating – you're becoming a part of that story, amplifying hope and paving the way for a brighter, more understanding world. Join us on this mission, and make a difference. Every donation, no matter the size, matters! Together, we can change the narrative for mental health in the UK 🙏🏼 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e2PRPwGz #Birminhgam #TPS360 #Tamworth #GLOWWalk2023 #MentalHealthUK #TPS360cares #MentalHealthMatters #ConstructionWellbeing #EveryDonationCounts #BuildingBetterMinds #MentalHealthAwareness #IndustrySupports #RealPeopleRealStories

INVITE US TO SPEAK I am looking to reach out to businesses across London and Essex and offering to come along and talk about #ANDYSMANCLUB With the stigma attached to Men’s mental health and more men bottling up their problems, my aim is to come along and talk about what we do as a charity in the hope that your workforce will learn more about what #ANDYSMANCLUB is and how it could help them. Since 2016, we have delivered our story and the stories of our staff, volunteers and trustees to thousands of businesses, organisations and charities. The sessions consist of an overview of our story, the importance of talking, the story of the man delivering the session and how our services can be accessed. These sessions are between 35-45 minutes long with 15 minutes of questions at the end. We can deliver to as many members of your organisation as you would like, both online and in person, as many times as you need and we also allow you to record to share this on your company intranet. All sessions delivered are free of charge, our priority as always is awareness and making our sessions available to as many men as possible. The presentation covers: • The “why” behind Andy’s Man Club. • Some stats around men’s mental health and suicide in the UK. • The stigmas surrounding men’s mental health. • Insight into the journey we’ve been on over the last 6/7 years. • My own personal journey with Mental Health. • The importance of talking. If you are interested in a talk, please email me Stuart.fawcett@andysmanclub.co uk

Partnerships Manager at Raise Your Hands - working with companies to scale charitable giving and demonstrate social impact
And that’s the end of the summer holidays! For those with school-aged children, the start of a new school term is always a combination of excitement and nerves. To my relief, my two skipped in today, but for so many children the anxiety around the start of term can be a hurdle too high to overcome😔 I’m now back at my desk, enjoying a coffee (in peace) whilst reading the latest newsletter from The Wave Project which includes some shocking stats on the current children’s mental health situation. The number of young people facing issues with mental health is staggering: the latest figures from the NHS indicate that 1 in 6 children are reporting a probable mental health disorder (translating to 5 children in a classroom of 30, and rising to 1 in 4 in young adults aged 17-19). According to the children's mental health charity Young Minds, the number of young people undergoing treatment or waiting to start care reached the highest number on record in May. These young people could fill Wembley Stadium 5 times over. The 14 charities on the Raise Your Hands platform have more than just children and young people in common - they are also striving to improve the #mentalhealth of young people which is so incredibly important given the current stats. It is Mental Health Awareness Week. The theme this year is 'Movement: Moving more for our mental health'. Since 2001, the Mental Health Foundation has been leading Mental Health Awareness Week - bringing together the UK to focus on getting good mental health. Each May, millions of people from every part of society take part. They include people in schools and further education; private, public and charity sectors; families and individuals. Despite the benefits of moving, so many of us struggle to move enough. We know there are many different reasons for this, so this Mental Health Awareness Week we want to encourage people to find moments for movement in their daily routines. If you would like to donate, however big or small. This will help achieve good mental health for all: https://lnkd.in/esi-GXEG #WeAreTempest #Donation #MentalHealthWeek #GetInvolved #MentalHealth #Tips

Global Product Manager. Creating and strengthening relationships between customers, a global technology leading manufacture and their products to help them achieve their goals.
The first 40 emails sent out for #talkinggoalssittingbourne #fundraising….why do you ask, well here are some of the unwanted statistics, what we want to do with the funding and what we have provided since April! Regrettably, the stark reality is that each year in the Uk, approximately 6000 lives are tragically lost to suicide, and an alarming 75% of these losses are men. This statistic makes suicide the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK. Our reliance on volunteers, while admirable, constrains our reach. Our aspiration is to provide this invaluable service free of charge to all men in the Sittingbourne area, extending a lifeline to those who, in today's challenging times, may be unable to afford even a modest donation but are in desperate need of support. Since our inception in April 2023, we have consistently attracted an average of 10 participants per session, providing over 270 hours of crucial support. https://gofund.me/ec4d85dc
