Sandy Springs is allocating $21.4 million for capital projects, with a significant portion dedicated to transportation improvements. The pavement management program receives $6 million, aiding in road maintenance. Additionally, the city plans to invest $3 million in City Springs District upgrades, potentially enhancing transportation infrastructure. Moreover, there's a proposed $2.5 million allocation for Old Riverside Park, contributing to accessible pathways and recreational areas along the Chattahoochee River, which could include transportation amenities. Outsourcing stormwater system surveys aims to improve infrastructure maintenance, indirectly benefiting transportation networks. Furthermore, by considering a director of data strategy and analytics, the city aims to enhance data-driven decision-making, which could optimize transportation planning and services. Scaled growth has been stymied in south Granville for years, particularly in City of Creedmoor NC, as developers could not get the water and sewer permits necessary to build any sort of medium-to-large project. But a $75 million solution may be on the way, courtesy of the South Granville Sewer and Water Authority. Construction commencing on the "I-85 Sanitary Sewer Improvements Project" could be just around the corner in 2025. The project could be completed by 2028, and SGWASA's director Scott Schroyer estimates that the utility service's customer base could double within five years of that completion. Developers I've spoken to have called the I-85 corridor north of Durham the biggest untapped potential for future growth. This project could potentially make the county's population at the end of this decade and start of next ... which, of course, comes with another host of challenges. Read more about the project and its implications for Granville County in the Triangle Business Journal link below.

What was one of the biggest challenges in Baton Rouge after Katrina? Infrastructure. Do you know about the Green Light Plan? This was a series of 42 road improvement projects that brought incredible benefit to the parish through the construction of new roads, widening of existing roads, intersection improvements and upgrades to traffic signalization and synchronization. The plan saved money and was overwhelmingly accepted by the public. Why is this important? Because, so often when we meet with town leaders, mayors and public works directors, we hear the pain in their voices when we start to talk about the cost of infrastructure programs. Our goal in each of these conversations is to change the perspective; to help folks see that programs, like The Green Light Plan, are in fact benefit creators for the entire community. Bonton Associates , we just released a piece called: Shift Your Thinking: Infrastructure Programs and Why Your Tax Dollars Are Important. The piece covers how communities spend their tax dollars on infrastructure programs, setting off a dynamic economic ripple effect that breathes new life into local economies. The ripple effect is comprised of increases in: job creation, new businesses, higher property values and technology, Check out the link below 👇. I would love to hear your thoughts. #infrastructure #louisianalivingandbusiness #Louisiana #JobCreation https://lnkd.in/dK8A8qKc

In Nevada, SID stands for "Special Improvement District," and LID stands for "Local Improvement District." Both SID and LID are types of special districts established by local governments to fund and manage specific infrastructure improvements and services within a defined area. 1. SID (Special Improvement District): A SID is created to finance and maintain specific infrastructure projects, such as roads, street lighting, landscaping, drainage systems, parks, and recreational facilities. The funding for these improvements is often raised through special assessments or taxes imposed on the property owners within the district. 2. LID (Local Improvement District): A LID is similar to a SID, but it focuses on financing and managing local improvements that directly benefit properties within a specific area. These improvements could include street paving, sidewalks, sewer connections, and other localized projects. Like a SID, property owners within the LID are typically subject to special assessments or taxes to cover the costs of these improvements. Both SID and LID are mechanisms used by local governments to fund essential infrastructure upgrades and services in designated areas while distributing the costs among the property owners benefitting from the improvements.

ABC57 Jan 31, 2024 7:28 PM When one domino falls, they all fall! Elkhart's mayor, Rod Roberson, is pitching a downtown "domino" plan to prep the city for an influx of future development. Before things like more housing or new development can happen, there are sewer and water drainage issues that must be addressed. The first domino is the Benham Avenue infrastructure project. "Focusing on water mains and sewer separation," said Corinne Straight, director of communications. "It is also going to reduce flooding in this area, it's going to improve draining, which is going to be a key area for future development." The $14.5 million proposal will go in front of the city's finance committee Thursday, before going in front of the council for a second time on Monday, Feb. 5. "It's an extension of water lines to match how the streets lay out these days, and it's also a change to the second and third street split which is at the Benham underpass, so it's also a major traffic conversion project and a streetscape project," Straight said. "So, while most of the work is being done underground, people will see a good difference above ground as we add wider sidewalks and change the traffic split to be condensed into one road." City councilmember David Henke said he is hesitant to support the project without more information, saying he didn't realize street flooding was a concern. "I would like to draw the money from another area, I don't have a problem with the proposal other than we need to know the rest of the story," Henke said. "So writing a blank check is never a good thing in government. We need to know the rest of the story and I think the public deserves to know what is the ultimate plan for this expenditure and what is it leading up to." The money, as the project stands now, will come from American Rescue Plan and capital fund dollars. The city affirms the "domino" plan is part of a bigger plan to bring development throughout the whole city, this first project is simply the first step. "To understand that nothing happens above ground when it comes to development and investment without that infrastructure being completed, being modernized, and working really well," Straight said. "When we look at infrastructure projects, that's how we look at it; the underground has to come first." And business owners like Gina Yoder at Gigi's on Main are thrilled about the direction the city is headed in. "I'm super excited about it, I think everything that's being done will be great for Elkhart, it's just another stepping stone to where we want to go," she said. https://lnkd.in/g_9QAhx4
