Tech is always fast, but it is accelerating. Everyday we see massive announcements on how #AI will or should be governed, how it is converging with other fields. And fundamentally how it will affect you. Having just came from helping to lead a growing company, I’ll start sharing what I see as the fastest way to keep up for busy people. Today we launch the Applied Ethics + program in Duke Initiative for Science & Society where we are set to explore the ethical implications of rapidly advancing technologies—and their effects on elections, profits, jobs, how we hope to live, etc. We are harnessing our collective expertise to spearhead interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with OpenAI, Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc., UNESCO, OECD - OCDE, and Center for Humane Technology. Our goal? To develop solutions that address how emerging technologies will shape our laws, society, and ethical standards—and conversely how can shape these technologies and reflect the best in all of us. I’ll be recruiting a new set of problem sponsors for the fall cohort so if you/your org are struggling and could use the incredible intellectual horsepower at Duke University, let me know. #DukeUniversity #EthicsInTech #AI #SyntheticBiology #TechForGood #Innovation #neurotechnology

Congrats, Doctor!
This sounds good. I’m running into the issue that most current college graduates can not even utilize the current technology in the workplace. Basic keyboarding skills, navigating and using Microsoft products and basic use of everyday technology - these graduates don’t even have these everyday skill sets. AI is going to be a wild ride for sure. Our industry is already heavily involved due to the nature of our business
