𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Yesterday, I was having a coffee talk with a client of Mister Jobs, and we came to talk about culture. In sports and business, success is about more than just talent; it's about fostering a strong culture that unites teams and drives them toward common goals. This lesson became clear during my brief gig at SciSports some years ago, a company using AI to analyze soccer players. Despite AI's ability to predict performance and suggest line-ups, it struggles to capture the essence of company and team culture, which are crucial for success. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐬 SciSports uses AI to evaluate soccer players, promising to revolutionize talent scouting and strategy with data-driven insights. During my time there, I developed an intrest in these models 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐈 Despite its sophistication, AI has limitations in understanding team dynamics. Examples show that teams with top players often fail because AI doesn't account for egos and culture. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 Company culture influences everything from satisfaction to performance. A team is more than talented individuals; it's a cohesive unit where chemistry, trust, and respect are key. The Galácticos era at Real Madrid exemplifies this: talent alone didn't guarantee success due to poor team culture. Similarly, in business, the best employees can underperform if the culture isn't right. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 The key takeaway is the need for a balanced management approach. AI and data analytics are invaluable, but understanding human factors is essential. Leaders must cultivate a positive culture, manage egos, and align talents with the organization's mission and values. AI has transformed sports and business, but company and team culture remain irreplaceable. My stint at SciSports highlighted that even the best AI can't substitute the understanding of team dynamics. This post inspires me.   A leading COO describes "the newly conflated responsibilities of today’s multidimensional COO" :   "driving digital transformation, cultural engagement, and improved employee and customer experiences—together with operational excellence and growth deliverables"   I love reading Francesca Luthi describe great EX as a essential part of business success:   "So, the focus for the future COO is to find ways to not just leverage tech alone, but rather bring together tech and talent to drive superior outcomes for clients and employees.   For years, companies have singularly focused on optimizing or improving the customer experience—introducing new technologies and tools to deliver on that goal.
