This is a long post, which I don't do often, but I think it will be worth the read. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Asembia next week. Cencora's Global Pharma Service team continues to create new value for our partners and I look forward to connecting in Las Vegas. But why are we really going to Asembia? It's best reflected in my plus one who cannot attend Asembia this year. My son Eric Doyle is graduating pharmacy school next Saturday and will start his residency in Health Systems Pharmacy Administration & Leadership at The University of Wisconsin in June. But without incredible medicines, physicians and the best health care system in the world, Eric would never have been here. As many of you know, I started my career at Henry Ford Hospital in the Medical Genetics and Birth Defect Center. I counseled patients through pregnancy losses and thought I was compassionate, but after losing a child at 23 weeks, you realize the pain is a 1000X worse than imagined. In 1993 Cindi and I moved to Cleveland and knew we had to find the best care possible; we were directed to University Hospitals / Rainbow Babies and Children's. Through my industry contacts, we were told there was an incredible physician who could support our case, and like most heroes, he said the story is not about him, so he will remain nameless. At week 12 Cindi is on bed rest, at week 14 we are sure we have lost the pregnancy but great medicines and care save the day. At week 28 she goes into labor, and spends three days in labor & delivery; Cindi is in the hospital until week 36. When Eric was born, it was 13 minutes from early contractions to him being stuck in the birth canal creating risk for both he and his mom. Again great physicians and medicines save the day. Fast forward 30 years it comes full circle. Eric just completed his rotations at University Hospitals / Rainbow Babies and Children's. To close the loop, we had lunch with the now retired physician whose care insured our son was born. When administration pushed for Cindi to go home at week 32, the physician asked administration, "do you sign birth certificates, of course you don't, the last physician this family had signed a death certificate, I promised them I am signing a birth certificate, she is not going home" Don't know if that would work today, but we are so blessed it did 30 years ago. As we head to Las Vegas this week, we will meet up with old friends, learn where our industry is heading and have some difficult discussions. But as I often tell my team, "this is only work, and we are fortunate to work in a space where we can truly change people lives" I look forward to a great week, my thanks to all of you that were gracious with Eric last year and he is off my payroll in June! Cindi and I are so thankful for University Hospitals and our nameless hero that truly changed our lives. The pictures below tells the whole story, see you at Asembia.

Congratulations, Tom, to you and your entire family. Eric is an inspiration to all of us. He is attending an outstanding program at UW (although I am unable to ever root for the Badgers). Thanks for sharing this remarkable story. Life is awesome!
