NIST stands for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, a unit of the United States Commerce Department, that promotes innovation through development of scientific and technological standards. NIST released a preliminary draft of the framework in Sept. 2019 and hopes to have version 1.0 finalized by the end of 2019.
