Mondays for me are for #reflecting on the week behind and #focusing on the week ahead and you lucky lot get to hear all about it! 😉 I was reminded by a former colleague (and friend) this morning that when people in #leadership positions interact with the people around them, they create so many impactful and sometimes life changing results and it dawned on me how big that responsibility really is. April sent me a link to Drew Dudley 's TED talk about #LollipopMoments. https://lnkd.in/eHAUJRup I have a second stage #interview this week that I am insanely excited for (don't ask who for as I won't be sharing that part just yet) but it lead me to reflect about who I am as a #manager, leader, #rolemodel and felt humbled and lucky enough to be able to go and read my recommendations section on my profile that have been left by a few of the wonderful people that I have had the privilege of working with. I am an extremely humble person and posting the pic below is somewhat out of my comfort zone, but when I read these recommendations I found it difficult to connect their experiences with my actions as I just genuinely thought I was doing my 'job', and how easy it is to just forget how you shape someone's day, career and often life with your actions. Good and bad. The power to also effect people negatively by not being mindful of your actions can be life changing, so we should hold that power with kid gloves and with absolute intention. I'll leave you with Drew 's closing statement: 'We need to redefine leadership as being about lollipop moments - how many of them we create, how many we acknowledge, how many of them we pay forward and how many we say thank you for. Because we've made leadership about changing the world, and there is no world. There's only six billion understandings of it.'
