Today I was brought to tears... This is a picture of my oldest son & my beautiful 90-year-old grandma with my grandfather's flight suit. Grandpa was a true hero- he was a decorated Air Force test pilot, was in the first wave of pilots to break Mach 2, flew the Apollo missions in the communication airplane, and was a hero in the Vietnam War (among many other incredible achievements). Grandpa passed away about 10 years ago. I am his eldest grandchild and have always loved his heroic stories. Today the family gifted my son Grandpa's flight suit. This is THE flight suit Grandpa wore in 1963 when he broke Mach 2. This is a piece of history and an important family heirloom. Tears immediately sprang to my eyes. This is an incredible heirloom to be passed down to my son. The suit is in near-perfect condition and is a true testament to the way Grandpa lived with purpose, care, and respect to his life's work. This is an incredible reminder of the powerful effects we can have- even long after we are gone. Grandpa's legacy continues in my son as he works hard to become an Aerospace engineer to send missions into deep space. I'm taking this as a powerful inspiration for 2024 to be a year filled with purposeful work that will last long after I am gone. What is your inspiration for your 2024 goals?
