"Keir Starmer has continuously shown us his centrist tendencies and near enough hatred for the left and its policies. From u-turns to ditching Labour pledges, Starmer during his time as leader of the Labour Party has managed to lose support not only from the public but also party members. Research from YouGov stated, “Three years into Keir Starmer's time as Labour leader, only 22% of Britons, and 37% of Labour voters, say he has been a "great" or "good" leader.”" A snippet from my latest article, make sure to check it out! https://lnkd.in/ePr7RC2A

Organized labor continues to use strike actions to pressure #highered institutions for better pay, benefits, and terms and conditions of employment. Executive, finance, and academic leaders should be aligned on the strategy for how best to respond to continue serving students and advancing institutional mission. https://lnkd.in/ejnmf7XR #laborlaw #highereducationleadership

I do feel some concern about this decision and agree that anyone being accepted as a Labour Party candidate or a defecting MP should be expected to endorse Labour Party values and policy. I’m not sure what Keir Starmer does now, but he has to find a way to explain his position and to assuage the confusion caused by this slightly odd-looking action. #Elphicke #KeirStarmer #LabourParty #Politics https://lnkd.in/ekrYkpq4

As posted in Shelburne's community business newsletter, too. Town Manager Matt’s 124 words in 2024: April 17 Today begins the Town’s negotiations for renewal of our collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. AFSCME is the nation’s largest public sector union, with 3,400 councils across 46 states. I look forward to working together for a stronger, healthier community. Nationally, the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ latest report counts 14.4 million American workers in unions, exactly 10.0% of the total labor force. This is down from 17.7 million unionized workers in 1983, 20.1% of the total. Today’s union membership is pretty evenly split between public sector (7.0 million) and private sector (7.4 million). Vermont’s unionization rate is 14.3%, above average but lower than New York. The job sectors with the greatest union membership are teaching/library, and police/corrections.
