As a family coach with two decades of experience, I've seen firsthand the struggle and resilience of families navigating the turbulent waters of Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and mental/emotional injuries. These challenges are pervasive, affecting countless young people across all walks of life. Often, the behaviors we see in these young individuals—behaviors that may appear illogical or self-destructive—are actually survival strategies. To truly support our children, we need to shift our perspective and approach with empathy and understanding. #FamilyPoweredChange https://lnkd.in/gc7g_3Rp

Excerpt from this week's blog "Unresolved Trauma: Wounds That Will Not Heal with Sobriety Alone": "I have spent my professional career helping children and adults resolve their past traumas/life events. It sometimes takes years to bring clients with severe trauma to resolution. However, since working with substance abusers, I have come to realize the importance of helping them begin their journey to resolution. I have come to realize that substance abuse fueled by past unresolved trauma is a double whammy. I have also heard too many clients think 30 days at a rehab will resolve their traumas. It just does not work like that." #trauma #traumarecovery #traumahealing #traumainformed #mentalhealth #addictions #addictionrecovery https://lnkd.in/gTA2SHww

in my view its hard to credit we are missing a huge piece. The demographics of prison populations gravitate and galvanise around some very key social demographics. And these issues were widely acknowledged in the 19th/20th Century. The separation from sociology, in the early 20th Century by psych dominance appraisals of the world means we are only operating with partial frames, presented as all encompassing; efficacious impartiality. These are largely false certitudes of very distant groups who are simply not nested in the social gradient from the emergence and emergence in context. The issues are largely social inductions with a pronounced acceleration of some swathes who are seriously over and over overly represented in juvenile justice. There are clearly biological aspects to this acceleration as disproportionately felt in class structure strata. And yes it is true class is not an intractable protector against psychopathy or even a guarantee of success from solid starts in life. But again, risk/ratios for juvenile crimes by social status(es) perpetuate as probabilities with good confidence statistical confidence. Values are also important as is education as buffers to not cede to these statistical probabilities by location

I think, addictions are either the reliving of echoes of trauma, or the reliving of the way we coped. #TheTrauma&MentalHealthReport #Addiction. #Trauma #TraumaHealing #LifeCenteredTherapy #TheOneHourMiracle.
